Was going to do a rewatch on the weekend, but ended up not... was going to do it tonight instead, but only got 5.5 hours sleep and so am too tired. Perhaps tomorrow!

Jensen & Family

Man, that pic Jensen posted of his family is the cutest! Awww...

Sherlock

So, Sherlock has started back up again - and for those who also watch it, and also follow me here, you might be like - Yo, where be your Quick Reactions? And to that, my answer is...

I haven't been in the mood to watch the show for some reason. I mean, even when publicity started rolling out, I wasn't curious enough to click on any links or anything. And I can't precisely say why, just that... well, no one believes me that I lose interest in things, because of how entrenched I am in continuing to watch Supernatural regardless of plotlines... but yeah, this is me losing interest, I guess.

I might watch it eventually... maybe when it comes out on Netflix and I don't have to pirate it? We'll see. I've enjoyed the few gifs on Tumblr that I've seen.

That being said, I also hear tell that the fandom is imploding in on itself, so maybe it's just as well that my attention is elsewhere and refuses to get enthusiastic about the show.

Check Please!

Ngozi is going to be at Emerald City Comic-Con this year, so I am jazzed - since I will also be there. It's in only two months! Oh man...

What else what else....

Fics

Currently slow going on the next installment of the demented'verse. I had a fairly good routine of working on it at least once per week, but that got broken in early december and I haven't gotten back into the swing of it yet. Kinda sucks, because I wanted to start posting it in the fall - but I want to make sure I'm on track not to leave people hanging with a WIP too long, you know? So, yes. Pretty sure this is going to be the final installment of the 'verse - so, I also want to make it fairly good? I mean, I might not manage it - it might suck. It could be that the 'verse has been declining in quality with each installment since the first, and this will be like a final nail in the coffin rather than a spectacular grand finale fireworks show. Either way, I'll be wrapping things up.

Still want to do a Supernatural-set sequel to Men of Legend. But that'll have to wait until after I finish off the demented'verse.

Haven't decided on possible sequels, one-shots, for Unfortunate Brother or I Imagine the Gods... but time will tell, I suppose. I have vague notions... but then I also have vague notions about expanding The Time Traveler into a full-length proper fic, and it didn't even get that warm of a reception.

Rogue One

I hear Rogue One is good, but I really hate tragedies, so I haven't seen it. "Why are you watching Supernatural?!!??" Someone screams into the abyss. "I don't know!! It just happened!" the abyss screams back.

Okay, that was pretty awesome...

general spoilers )

So, very short quick reaction, I know. If there's anything in particular you want to discuss, please do so in comments! :)

Mostly, this makes me want Series 4, because I'm kinda of itching to revisit my Unfortunate Brother fic series.
hells_half_acre: (Irene Kiss)
GUYS!!! I AM SO EXCITED!

Quick to the cut....

I want to put a quote here, but I won't, because of spoilers... )

So, tell me what you thought in comments!

SUCH A GOOD EPISODE!

I still watched it late because I was late getting home and then had to wait for it to go up on the iPlayer - but MAN! I want to watch it again. There was SO MUCH IN IT.

So, I suppose I should talk about it! I made notes this time, so although I do want to watch it again, I'm going to try to write this up from my notes in the hopes that it takes me less time.

So much love... )

SUCH A FANTASTIC EPISODE THOUGH!!! Man, I loved every minute of it and I would VERY MUCH like to watch it again and again and see it all in gif form on tumblr.

If you follow me on tumblr please use tumblr savior and blacklist "Sherlock" if you don't want to be spoiled or simply don't want to see my Sherlock spam. Also, if you follow me on tumblr, I apologize for being bad at tumblr.

So, COMMENTS! Tell me what you loved, tell me what I missed talking about because I didn't take very good notes! TELL ME HOW ADORABLE EVERYONE IS!

Wow, that was a long day of avoiding the internet. I couldn't get the streams to work consistently, so I ended up waiting for a torrent to appear and then download. So, yeah, didn't get to watching it until 5 hours after it aired - which, all things considered, isn't that bad.

Anyway, very enjoyable, but it's one of those episodes where I'm not sure how I feel about it until I talk about it - so let's do that!

I'm actually going to play it in the background while I type this so that I'll have the audio to remind me what happened. I've only watched it once, but I'll be listening to it a second time (though not pausing if I can help it) so we'll see how it goes!

Short version: Not Dead )

So, yes, good episode. Let me know what you all thought in comments! :)
hells_half_acre: (thumbs-up awesome)
So, a little bit ago, I got a lovely message from [livejournal.com profile] pilpa asking if she could translate the Unfortunate Brother series into Chinese. I, of course, said yes! I happen to know that the majority of people in the world speak Chinese and I thought it'd be really cool if they could read my fic too. :)

Well, she's done it! (You need to sign up to the forums to see it, but I'm sure all you Chinese-speakers can handle that.)

I've had a look and even though I only know how to read the words, "I", "you", "heart", and "everybody", I think she did a really great job!

I'm very flattered that someone liked my fic so much they wanted to translate it and bring it to a wider audience.

So, yeah, I'm super thrilled. I really love that series and I'm very excited that people who perhaps couldn't read it before can now do so. :)
hells_half_acre: (Sherlock)
Okay, here's some crack to cheer us all up...

I'm going to post the prompt at the end of the fic, because I think it gives too much away if you see it before you read.

It's also slash, which I don't usually write, but as you all know I do love me some Sherlock/John.

Flowers
(Sherlock, Sherlock/John - G rated, crack, 1017 words)

You have to see it, then you can solve it quick as you like – but you really need to see this one. )

hells_half_acre: (Sherlock)
An even shorter one today, mainly because I had absolutely no idea what to do with the prompt. I could either have Sam and Dean have a conversation about raunchy place names, or I could do another Traveling!Sherlock fic. I went with the latter, because the former required too much research and work and I'm busy. :P

Prompt: Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok
(Sherlock, post-reichenbach, pre-S3, 129 words)

the monkeys kept trying to steal his things )

hells_half_acre: (Other Fandoms)
Took way too long with this one today - I should not have chosen such an ambitious scene to write. After brainstorming for a half-an-hour though, it was the only thing I could come up with. Then I took two hours to write it. So yeah.... not entirely happy with it, but I really can't afford to spend more time on it and I have to post something today... so, here we go...

Today's Prompt: Rubbish

A Snippet of Arthur's POV from The Case of the Unfortunate Brother. My Merlin-Sherlock fusion 'verse.

Unfortunate Timing
(Merlin-Sherlock fusion, UnfortunateBrother'verse timestamp, 1257 words)

Merlin was missing and something was wrong... and possibly that meant that something was wrong with Merlin. )

hells_half_acre: (Sherlock)
About a half hour today... man, it's hard to get stuff done on a Thursday after SPN Wednesday..

Today's prompt:  Trevi Fountain

So, I once again went with a VERY original title....

Trevi Fountain
(Sherlock, post-reichenbach, optional John/Sherlock, 493 words.)

The smiling was the most exhausting part. )

hells_half_acre: (Irene Kiss)
This entire thing clocks in at 22,000 words. But, keep in mind, a lot of that is dialogue so that you know what specific part of the episode I'm talking about.

If you want to view/download the entire thing: click here. I apologize in advance for the font. I used the same one from my blog, but apparently that looks quite cartoony when in a word document. I don't know why. Suggestions for better fonts are welcome.

This season, Gatiss and Moffat decided to tackle the big stories while also theme-ing the episodes. So, we get "Sherlock and Love", "Sherlock and Fear", and "Sherlock and Death."

I actually see these episodes as ALL "Sherlock and Love" or at least Love, Love-Fear and Sad-Love, because really, what's death besides the really really depressing part of love?

Standard Disclaimer: As usual, I talk a lot about love, and being "in love" etc....and, as usual, I don't necessarily mean romantic love. If you are a huge shipper though, you can feel free to pretend that I mean the sort of love that leads to sexy-times. Personally though, I'm a stickler for canon, so I actually just mean love without the addition of sex. I tend to side with Moffat on this one: “Fancying someone is about how you spend your night. Loving someone is about how you spend your life.”

Scandal in Belgravia!

Buckingham palace. Alright. I'm seriously fighting the impulse to steal an ashtray. )

Part 2

hells_half_acre: (Sherlock)
Title: The Unfortunate Brother: Childhood (is the Kingdom Where Nobody Dies)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] hells_half_acre
Fandoms: Sherlock and Merlin
Rating: PG (Gen)
Word Count: 7,938
Setting/Spoilers: Spoilers for S1-S2 of Sherlock. You don't really have to know anything about Merlin, since I've taken it very AU in this 'verse.
Warnings: Emotional aftermath of a suicide.
A/N: Part of the UnfortunateBrother'verse, it helps if you've read the first part, though it might not be mandatory. Basically, all you need to know is that I've added a third younger Holmes brother to the mix.
A/N #2: Title is from Edna St. Vincent Millay
A/N #3: I was going to wait until S3 of Sherlock before I wrote anything else in this 'verse, but I got impatient. I tried to keep things vague enough so that they'll hopefully fit into whatever we're told happened between S2-S3. If it ends up being vastly different though, I'll just come back an re-write. :P
A/N #4: I jump back and forth between different parts of the past and the present, without announcing where you are in the timeline...hopefully it's fairly easy to figure out though and not too jarring.
A/N #5: Only moderately brit-picked, so please let me know if there are any glaring errors.

Summary: The problem with Tug of War is that it's never really about the rope.

You hated him because he was a bright light that could see into your darkest corners. In front of him you were laid bare, vulnerable, with every weakness and secret shame exposed. )

Part 2
I like to watch you dance. )

Commentary

Sorry I can't hear you, I'm swimming. )

And there we have it!

I'm not sure when I'll get to S2. It takes me ~10 hours to do one episode, in case you were wondering...and I do sadly have to work for a living. :P

Let me know if there's anything you desperately wished that I had talked more about...or explained better...or had a different opinion on...
hells_half_acre: (Sherlock)
Back to awesomeness...as we conclude the first series of Sherlock :)

Standard "Love" Disclaimer: I talk about "love" and being "in love" in this rewatch, but I don't actually mean romantic-love - though, you are free to interpret it that way if it makes you happier. :)

Warning: Although this is a rewatch of 1x03, I DO make passing references to events in Series 2. So BE WARNED.

I'd be lost without my blogger. )

Part 2
hells_half_acre: (Sherlock)
Sherlock Rewatch - The Blind Banker
(Only ~6,600 words this time, yay!)

So, I always remembered this as a sub-par episode that had very few redeeming qualities. In other words, I was CRAZY harsh on it. When I showed Sherlock to one of my friends, I skipped it entirely. But, the other week I showed Sherlock to another friend, including this episode, and well...I've...changed my mind? Shocking, I know. But, while this episode has its issues and isn't as good as the other episodes, it's still really good television.

I'm Sherlock Holmes, and I always work alone, because no one can compete with my MASSIVE INTELLECT! )

Next up...The Great Game. I'm not sure when I'm going to get to it. It may have to wait until August, or I may be able to do it next week. It depends how long it takes and how much time I have. Lately, I have not had very much time.

Is it nice not being me? It must be so relaxing. )

Commentary

I made the mistake of calling Benedict to solve a crime. He was absolutely hopeless. )

The End.

I'm going to be very busy for the next couple of weeks, but hopefully I'll find time to watch The Blind Banker sometime in July.

Edit: Almost forgot to link the full rewatch on AO3 is available for those who want to download to portable readers (or those of you who just like AO3 a lot.)
