Remembrance Day Comment-Fic-Meme!
Nov. 10th, 2009 11:20 pmUp here in Canadaland, Nov. 11 is Remembrance Day - which means I don't have to work! So, in honour of all those who fought for my country in wars and whatnot, I'm going to spend the day writing fanfiction.
And you, dear flist, are going to give me prompts!
WHAT TO DO: Leave me a prompt in comments! I will write a little drabble to fulfil it.
RULES:
1. I only write Gen.
2. I don't watch much TV, so if you suggest crossovers, I might not have the knowledge to do it.
3. For those of you who friended me based on my Harry Potter/Supernatural crossover. You CAN prompt me to write with the Harry Potter characters; HOWEVER, if it is already a scene that I'm working on for the sequel, I may refuse the request, because I don't want to spoil the surprise...or I may still write it, but not set it in the Damned Demented Demon 'verse.
4. You can prompt until the end of Nov. 11th (in whatever time zone you are in.)
PROMPT AWAY!
PS: I'll feel really pathetic if nobody prompts. I've been jazzing myself up to do this for a whole week.

Date: 2009-11-12 07:20 am (UTC)When Ginny Met Dean...
It was finally time for the scheduled call with Harry. Ginny had been going out of her mind at home - looking after two kids and an infant, making sure that she sent a letter to Teddy once a week while Harry was gone. Her mother stopped by to help a lot of course, but that sometimes just left her feeling more frazzled. She really missed her husband.
She was sure Hermione would make fun of her for it, but she was sure to brush her hair and make herself look as presentable as possible before she called Harry. After all, maybe he come home sooner if he remembered what he was missing...and not the screaming children part of what he was missing.
"Harry?" Ginny said, looking into the mirror with an anticipatory smile.
Harry didn't pick up right away. No worries, there was a time difference, maybe Harry was working off a clock that was a few minutes delayed.
"Harry?" Ginny tried again. She watched as the mirror in front of her shifted from her own face to grey, then a pair of familiar green eyes...
"...don't think that's a phone," somebody on Harry's side of the mirror said, and then the image sharpened, and Ginny's breath caught. It wasn't Harry. The green eyes didn't belong to Harry.
"Well, hello there," the stranger said with a smile that Ginny had never seen on Harry's face, "what's Harry doing with a girl like you in his pocket?"
"Where's my husband?" Ginny asked before her mind had even caught up with what was happening. She watched as the smile fell from the strangers face, and her heart hammered at what that could possibly mean...
"He's talking to Phil right now," the stranger said, "don't worry. He's alright. He'll be back in a minute."
Ginny breathed a sigh of relief. Now that she wasn't terrified that something horrible had happened to Harry, she studied the face of the stranger in the mirror. She was amazed at how similar the eyes were to her husbands, but the face...there was a smattering of freckles across the man's nose, faded with time, but surely when he was a child they would have been more prominent, like her second born. Harry had also never worn his hair that short, but it suited the man in the mirror.
"May I ask who you are?" Ginny asked, wondering if he was a member of the American team of Aurors. She knew standard practice was to assign trainees to Dementor jobs, but maybe they had made an exception for someone with exceptional experience. The man in the mirror certainly looked like he could be considered exceptional.
"Dean Winchester," Dean replied, smile back in place.
"Dean..." came a voice from Dean's side of the mirror. Ginny watched with amusement as Dean rolled his eyes. "That's my brother Sam, we're going to ignore him though, that way I can keep you all to myself until Harry gets back. I don't think he'd mind, do you?"
Ginny found herself laughing.
When Ginny Met Dean continued...
Date: 2009-11-12 07:20 am (UTC)Ginny nearly smacked herself at the confused look Dean gave her. Oh lord, had it been that long since she had flirted with someone? Wait? Was she trying to flirt? She was married for Merlin's sake.
"I mean..." Ginny said, a little flustered, "you have Harry's eyes, but freckles like me...and my second boy, he's the same."
Dean was laughing, but not at her. He was laughing as though she were in on the joke, like he had purposefully been born looking like her Albus so that they could have this conversation.
"Ah, Sammy's not half as good-looking as me," Dean said. "You ain't missing much."
"Hey..." Ginny heard Dean's brother say, and she laughed because it reminded her so much of her own brothers.
"So, you and Harry have two boys?" Dean asked, "Personally, I'm not sure you look old enough to have one kid, let alone too. Harry is one lucky man if he gets to go home to you every night."
"Actually," Ginny said smiling, "we have three children."
"Seriously?" Dean said, just after Ginny heard the familiar noise of someone apparating on Dean's side of the mirror. She wondered if Sam had gone off to fetch Harry, "I didn't think it was possible for a woman to have three children and look as good as you..."
Ginny blushed, and then noticed Dean look off to the side with a devilish smirk.
"Harry, man, you shouldn't neglect a girl like this, someone's liable to steal her away from you..." Dean said with a wink.
"Give me that!" Ginny heard Harry say, and the mirror was pulled away from Dean's face. All Ginny could see was black...and was that a button?
Then the image titled and Ginny was looking up at Harry.
"Gin?" Harry said.
And Ginny couldn't resist, because after growing up with six brothers, she had come to appreciate a good teasing...
"Hi Harry," Ginny said, not bothering anymore to hide her blushing. "So, who's your new American friend?"
Chuck Puts It Together
Date: 2009-11-12 07:32 am (UTC)"Wait..." Chuck said, suddenly putting it all together. "If you guys are real..." he looked at the two men standing in his living room, wondering again if he were still drunk, or maybe gone insane, "...and everything I've written about you has actually happened..."
"Spit it out," Dean said angrily.
"...then the wizards?" Chuck finished, "the wizards were actually real?"
"You mean Harry?" Sam asked.
"Oh god..."
"What?" Dean asked concerned.
"I mean, I wrote it, it's on my computer. But I was sure as hell not going to send it to the publisher if they picked up the series again," Chuck said.
"Why not?" Sam asked confused, and man, it was just creepy how his expression was exactly like Chuck always thought it would look when he was confused.
"Because!" Chuck said, throwing his hands in the air. "I mean, ghosts and demons are one thing, but a secret society of wizards?! No one is going to believe that shit!"
Now both Winchesters looked confused.
"But it's true..." Dean said.
"You have no sense of what makes good literature," Chuck shook his head.
"You write pulp fiction!" Sam said.
"Everyone's a critic" Chuck responded.
"Dude, I love that movie!" Dean said.
Chuck didn't think he had enough liquor.
