Autograph Decisions

VanCon is swiftly approaching, and once again I have left figuring out what  to get signed to the last minute.

Right now, my plan is to get everyone to sign different pages of "The Essential Supernatural" huge coffee-table book... which I bought even though I really thought they should have waited for the series to end before they published something like that.

Ty Ollsen isn't in that book though (it only covers Seasons 1-7), so I'll have to hope they have a good headshot of him as Benny for sale at the Con, I guess.

I have a couple options for Jared, Jensen, and Misha though... so maybe you guys can help me decide.

Recently, my friend K bought me a really sweet On The Head of A Pin poster by Bruce Loves You. I don't actually want signatures ON the poster, because in my opinion that'll ruin the poster. But I was thinking maybe Jared, Jensen, and Misha could sign the BACK of the poster. When I eventually get it framed, you wouldn't be able to see the signatures, but I'd know they were there.

The second option is just to have them sign The Essential Supernatural book too, probably on the pages that are devoted to them or their character.

The third option depends on what pictures Creation is selling at the Con. I REALLY like the picture that I got them to sign at my first convention - the only problem with it is that by the time I got the signature, their sharpies were running out, so their signatures are really faint. So, I've often thought that if Creation ever sold that same picture again (the one where the boys are watching TV - I like the meta-ness of it), then I'd launch a second attempt at getting a better copy.

The fourth option is to do something else entirely, but I'm not sure what.

Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts, let me know.

Yes, I LOVE IT...which is why I don't want signatures on it. :P

I'm also a little worried that if I bring it just to get their signatures on the back, it'll end up getting squished on accident or something during the day.

Oh I would worry about the same. To be honest, if it were me, I wouldn't take it with me at all. It's too attractive to risk it getting damaged.

If you're going to have the poster matted, you could bring the matt (mat?) and have them sign that. You'd be able to display a pristine poster AND have the signatures in full view.

(Of course, I have no idea how big the poster is, so it could be just ridiculous to carry a mat (matt?) around...)

Yeah, I'm not sure how I want to frame it - and it feels a bit weird to get someone to sign a matt (matte? mat?) when they don't know what it's going to go around.

And yeah, even though the poster is relatively small, I think a mat that size would be an awkward thing to carry around.

I just checked the Creation page again, and autographs from Ty, Rachel, DJ and the two Marks aren't included in any packages. So that may solve your problem right there?

The more I think about it, the more I think that the book is way more practical than the poster.

Going the book route does seem a lot easier than multiple pics of everyone. Although I do like the SPN Christmas picture for Jensen and Jared. That would be a great shot for them to sign.

It's a bummer that not everyone is included with autos in the Gold package. I want to get the autos of in my SPN book, so I will be purchasing some autos this year.

And you may change your mind about getting Ty's auto, even if you have to purchase it. Who knows if you will see him again at a Con. My motto, you gotta get while you can because you might not have the opportunity again. Of course, money always does factor into the equation, unfortunately.

Yeah, I didn't realize that Ty's auto wasn't included in the package. I usually don't buy extra autos... so, hm, we'll see.

I've bookmarked pages in the book for everyone, even people who aren't necessarily included in the Gold package - just in case they actually are, or in case I do decide to purchase autos...who knows.

Still can't decide about what I want Jared and Jensen to sign... ugh... I keep waffling back and forth about it. It WOULD be nice to get a better version of the SPN Christmas picture, so I may just go for that. Mind you, if that doesn't work out, then I'll have TWO of those that didn't work out. Whereas if I get the book or poster signed, that's something new.

What to have Jensen and Jared sign is always a quandary. I wanted to do up a collage of Jensen with pics from Purgatory because I loved that storyline so much and wanted to highlight that with having him sign something of him in Purg. But, I don't know Photoshop very well and it would have taken me forever and a year to put something together so I had to scrap that idea, which is why I am going for the book. Next year, though, I will have taken the time to learn photoshop so I can do something for Jensen from Purg. He looked so hot in those scenes and I would love to immortalize him and get his auto.

The Christmas photo is a great shot. And if you get the copy from Val, it is bound to be of excellent quality. And that is such an iconic shot of the two of them. It would be great to have them sign that. But then the book is also a great keepsake and to have their signatures in the book would be most awesome. Just adds more meaning to the book. Ack!!! Decisions decisions decisions!!!!!

I have the same trouble with photoshoppy things. I don't have photoshop, and even if I did, I wouldn't know how to use it... I also don't have a printer. :P Really, I'm completely unprepared for these kinds of things!

It is always such a hard decision every year. If only all of our decisions were this easy though. :)

I guess not having a printer does kinda put a crimp in wanting to create your own pics. You really should invest in a printer. I don't know what I would do without one.

I tried investing in a printer, but I guess I chose the wrong one, because it never worked well, went through ink like a sonofabitch, and now it's broken. :P

Some printers do go through ink rather quickly. And ink is dang expensive. Sorry to hear about your unsuccessful experience.
