I'm a huge Hawksley Workman fan...and I like Supernatural...but sadly, Hawksley Workman's music really isn't the right tone for making Supernatural vids. Except, arguably "We'll Make Time". It's true, the lyrics are about a couple and reference sex, so...yeah, it doesn't suit my gen-preference, but that's just the chorus...the verses are awesomely supernatural-applicable.

Sadly, I am not talented enough to make such a video...but in my head it exists and it is awesome.

Speaking of making love in the middle of the night...

I've been fighting with my sleep schedule again recently. The truth of the matter is though, that there's nothing wrong with me. (Cue clip of Sherlock: The Hounds of Baskerville here). I actually enjoy the sleep pattern of a normal healthy human in the wild...which makes me different than 99% of the population of the world (that statistic based on personal observation only).

I have a segmented sleep pattern.

This means that I fall asleep for about four to five hours, wake up just a little...enough to hover in a sort of meditative dreamy stoned sort of state for an indeterminate amount of time...and then fall back asleep again for another four to five hours.

The problem, of course, is that I'm starting the first segment of sleep at 2am, when I should be well on my way to the second segment of sleep by then (if I want to wake up in the morning rather than the afternoon)...which is why I can't seem to hold down regular office hours.

This is all to say though, that one of the reasons I really like "We'll Make Time" is because making love in the middle of the night sounds really good. There are only 3 instances where I find myself wanting a partner: 1)when there are spiders, 2)when I'm sick and I need someone to make sure that I don't pass out while making dinner, and 3)when I'm between sleep segments and my brain is flooded with natural happy-making chemicals and there is no one around to take advantage.

Mind you, I realize that any partner that I have would have to also be on a segmented sleep schedule that matched mine. But one can dream...and I do...usually between sleep segments.

I share your pain of a "non-traditonal circadian rhythm"

My most "awake" hours of the day are 10-2...at night I have to fight to make myself go to sleep before 3 or 4 in the morning and get my best sleep between 7 am and noon. My solution has been to work 2nd or third shift so far (and take afternoon classes lol). No other real solutions though but I empathize.

Yeah, my best hours of sleep are between 7am and noon too. I'm lucky in that I work from home (most of the time) and can make my own hours...but jobs like that are rare.

That's the way I would rather sleep too, but life does not allow for it. I'm always fighting my natural tendencies. And procrastination... *la la la!*

Yeah, my main problem with the world is that it is set up for coffee drinkers. If you tell someone you are tired, the answer is always "oh, better drink more coffee!" Thanks...but maybe we shouldn't have to live in a world where we are expected to be on stimulants the whole time! :P

This reminds me of something I read somewhere ages ago about how the traditional sleep cycle only originated when electricity indoors became common. Before, people would sleep from when it got dark 'till late in the night, and then they'd wake for a few hours before falling asleep again and waking with the sun. But when lights started keeping people up, that died out.

Anyways. I tend to sleep better in the afternoons/early evenings. Last week I was on a cycle where I slept from ~1-9pm and then was awake for the rest of the day/night, and that worked, but it wasn't gonna be useful long-term because I couldn't focus in my 8am class. :/ I wish I could afford to sleep how it feels natural(I'm just coming off the awkward late-night cycle of teens/young adults), but RL just won't let me. :/

Yes, that's exactly my sleep schedule...the one from before electricity. The difference is that because I HAVE electricity, I have this sleep schedule between 2am and 12-2pm...which um, REALLY doesn't work when you are expected to work for a living. I should point out that I don't ALWAYS sleep like that...last night I slept from 5am to 11am, because I'm trying to get on a more "tradition" sleep schedule...so, it was my attempt to only sleep one cycle, rather than two.

Wow, that's an interesting sleep pattern you had there.

I've never left the "awkward late-night cycle" of teens/young adults. I always had it in my head that sleeping from 11pm until 6am (or whatever) was just something that you "graduated" into....like, it just started happening one day. It doesn't. I'm still a teenager when it comes to sleeping...I sleep close to ridiculous amount and I don't even have the excuse that I'm growing.
