Just a follow up to last night's post....

The city is still awesome. There are a whole bunch of "real fans" downtown today cleaning up, even though they had no part in the destruction (some of them spent last night peacefully watching the sunset with me.) There's also been social media groups started to help the police find the evidence needed to arrest the criminals that broke windows, destroyed public and private property, or used the chaos to steal/hurt people.

Anyway, I think that's pretty cool. Not sure how much the media is going to focus on that though - they tend to like the more sensational 'humans are bad' type stories.

I hope that you are far away from the destruction! It's sad really, that this type of thing would happen, but i love the response that your town comes up with! :)

Slightly OT, but since a number of shows do film up there, I'm glad it's not exactly filming season, including our own Supernatural.

I was far away and safe in my little hippie neighbourhood, so no worries!

Unfortunately it IS filming season for some shows - shows that are supposed to be set in LA or whatever, tend to film over the summer months. Also, movies. That being said, not many people film RIGHT downtown (expensive and logistically hard)...so I'm sure anyone who IS in town filming was well away from the riot zone.

I AM glad that the boys aren't in town though! I know they've lived here longer than I have and know that what happened last night does not represent the city - but it's still rather an embarrassing thing.

I watched some live footage this morning (which was 3 hours after the game in Vancouver) and was shocked to see what happened. I was in that Sears and bought some make-up and I probably visited that Chapters too. I recognized quite a few streets and buildings. Well, there are idjits everywhere I guess. And I hope to come back again, it's still a wonderful city!

Yeah, it was right in the downtown core there near Granville and W Georgia..

The main trouble makers seem to be people from out of town or the suburbs coming in to destroy places that they don't even live. Thankfully everyone is cleaning up today and the police have a lot of evidence to make the appropriate arrests.

Hope you and sis and sweetpee are all okay.. a few punks start crap and other cattle/sheep follow .. it's just wrong some bad apples/Igits can start something and they end up making good fans/the city look so bad. I heard someones in hospital head issues/ and they don't know his identity :( Hope he wasn't one of the thousands of innocent bystanders. Could very well be, but still glad to know so many good ppl in Van/ and cannuck fans have the class to come out to help. :0) Thanks so much for your updates ...
