Sigh...

Things like THIS make me depressed because they are true.

Which is why I really want my friend to come with me to VanCon this year, so that she can hopefully ask one non-vapid question...even if no one knows how to answer it. (My friend is hella smart, folks, and ponders things like constructions of masculinity.) (Do people say "hella" anymore, or was that an early 2000s thing that only I still do?)

In other related news - and because I had a great time at last year's con - I broke down and just went ahead and bought a silver ticket and even some photo-ops. Because I am crazy like that.

Now I just need to figure out how to make more money...while still quitting my good-paying job (because it may be good-paying, but I'd gladly sacrifice that money not to have my soul sucked out of me. I'm sure Sam and Dean would agree that soul-sucking should be avoided at all costs.)

Anyway, yeah, the game might be crooked, but it's the only game in town, so you might as well smile while you play...

At Creation Cons there are different levels of ticket-holders...so you get "free autographs" if you have gold or silver tickets, but you have to pay extra for them if you have a general ticket.

And yes, if you like the multi-dimensional Con, then you might not like the Supernatural Creation Con...especially if you are used to Cons that DON'T feel like they are trying to milk you for every penny you have. In recent years, the stars have been trying to re-align the money and there's been an increase in charity-auctions rather than just Creation-auctions at the Cons...but still. It's the one really depressing thing about going to a Supernatural con done by Creation...you really feel the financial-divide between you and, what I only assume are, the upper percentile of wealth in America. :P

And yes, if Creation realized the fans weren't shallow stupid women, and they actually thought to bring in the writers and open the Cons up for more intelligent discussion, I think it WOULD draw in more people and perhaps advertise the show better. That being said, we have to work with what we've got - and so it falls to the people who go to appreciate that Jared and Jensen also have brains and actually like the more discussiony questions, rather than the more superficial ones. Usually there's a nice mix of questions though, so people are making the most of it.

In the meantime, we'll just have to enjoy the glimpses we get of the creators at Comic Con every year...and hopefully this year at Paley.

Have a blast. Any con beats no con at all! I'm trying to swing Reno for this year's WorldCon, although the thought of flying has become horrible.
