According to the latest news....CW is postponing the mid-season premiere of Supernatural so that they can play Vampire Diaries and Nikita on Friday instead.

I think my icon says it all.

And since Sam has had his say in icon form,  Dean would like to weigh in...

Its especially annoying given all the publicity the fans have drummed up for the show in these last few months. WTF CW???

so it is accurate news. *sigh*

I'm still clinging to the hope that this is some elaborate hoax...because seriously...especially after all the articles this week from the people who watched the pre-screen and recommended that their readers watch the show??! Why does the CW insist on shooting itself in the foot?!

that's pretty much exactly what someone on my flist just said. *sigh*

JFC you are so right on here. They are so stupid, it hurts!!! If people choose to watch AI tonight instead of the vampire crap, then who cares!? That's what DVRs are for!!!

From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
EXACTLY! And why show THE SAME SHOWS TWO DAYS IN A ROW?!?! How does that improve ratings?! Everyone who doesn't watch AI and watches CW on Thursday is probably going to not bother on Friday, because Smallville and Supernatural aren't on and they've already seen TVD.

I KNOW! Show the damn things on Saturday, Sunday, whatever! GTFO of my show's timeslot!!

(lol ugh I'm glad to know someone else feels my ~rage)

And it looks, from what I've seen on ONTD_SPNP, like they're giving different rationales to different people, *none* of which justify waiting to make the announcement until the bloody day before.

The CW is now second only to SyFy at the top of my list of Networks I Will Never, Ever Work For (if, y'know, I manage to get into writing for television).

Sorry, I've lost all coherency...I've had a ridiculous week of work and Supernatural has been my light at the end of the tunnel...

I'm past being angry now, I think, but still--the only proper reason for pulling the mid-season premieres of your top-rated scripted dramas the *day before they air* is a national emergency.

From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
Yes, I've moved past anger too and am now just disappointed and annoyed.

And yes...last time I checked, your president was still alive and dashing, so I'm not sure why my show has been pulled...

What the hell?? ;__; That's so stupid... I can't believe they're airing reruns of other shows instead of the new SPN ep! Jesus. That sucks. :( I was so looking forward to tomorrow night...

It just doesn't make any sense on ANY level! For CHRISSAKES! I HATE EVERYTHING NOW!

I know! It really sucks and is stupid. :( Their reasoning is ridiculous... what's the point in seeing how TVD/Nikita's ratings raise when they're not opposite AI if it's just for one week? Is it just a ploy to get some extra ratings? It doesn't even make sense. Sigh.

Date: 2011-01-27 11:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
It's a ploy to get more ratings for their craptastic shows rather than they're one actual GOOD show. (my apologies to you, or anyone, who likes TVD and Nikita...I do not.)

Date: 2011-01-27 11:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ria-oaks.livejournal.com
Heh yeah... well, I don't watch either shows so I don't know. I have heard that TVD actually got quite good after the initial bad first few eps, but I don't watch, so... either way, it's too bad. :(

Date: 2011-01-27 11:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
Well, people like it - but I really don't. Mind you, I've sort of got a hatred for vampires, so I'm probably biased.

I haven't seen Nikita, so, I probably shouldn't judge it. But seriously...so mad.

I mean, fine, rearrange your schedule, but don't do it THE DAY BEFORE THE EPISODE AIRS! UGH!

So very very mad.

Date: 2011-01-28 12:00 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ria-oaks.livejournal.com
Haha true, I forgot about your vampire dislike. :) And yeah, I know, the worst thing (well, maybe) is just changing it the day before. Very annoying. Couldn't they have announced this a few weeks ago??

Date: 2011-01-28 12:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
Exactly! It's not like they didn't know weeks ago that AI would be on tonight...and as for the rumour that they changed it because of the pre-emptions in Chicago and Baltimore (for sports), that's bullshit, because they NEVER did that for Supernatural whenever it was pre-empted in those cities.

It's just ridiculous and disrespectful to the fans of the show, and really shows where the networks loyalty lies with it's own programing.

From: [identity profile] katsheswims.livejournal.com
I heard that there was some type of editing problem and they had to re-shoot something? But you think they could have noticed before this and had time to fix it already...And the least they can do is play some Supernatural ep on Friday even if it isn't the new one...

Date: 2011-01-27 11:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
But the press already got the pre-screeners! The episode is FINISHED! If it's some delay with the second episode back, then put a repeat NEXT week, for chrissakes.

Ugh...I'm so mad...

From: [identity profile] khek.livejournal.com
But they've been advertising FOREVER that the new episode is Jan 28th. I've seen it on CW, TBS and USA. Are they stupid? Or I guess the better question should be 'how stupid are they?'

This is why I'm still holding out hope that this is all some horrible mistake...but it really doesn't look like a hoax.

I'M SO ANGRY I WOULD TOTALLY BOYCOTT THE NETWORK...you know, if they weren't holding my favorite show hostage...ugh!

WHAT?!? Ugh, the one time I would actually have TV access, too...I was so looking forward to tomorrow night. Epic fail, CW, epic fail.

On one hand, so not cool to pull such crap on us poor hiatus-deprived viewers. On the other hand, I will be out of town Friday and would miss debut of new episode if aired as planned. Still, not happy it had to be this way even if it worked for my situation.

Well, that's good for you! (I'm not being sarcastic...I'm honestly glad it worked out for at least one of us :P)

Sadly, what this does is not only disappoint me this week, but also screw me up for March 4th. Sigh.

From: [identity profile] phamalama.livejournal.com
dude, I was on tumblr and thought, that's a joke, right??? Anyways, the devoted Vampire Diaries & Nikita fans do their best to watch it on Thursday night. American Idol auditions suck compared to the other quality episodes. And people watch the shows that they miss online the next day!

Indeed! It's a flimsy excuse to marginalize one show in favour of others.

I'm trying not to be bitter, but seriously...if Supernatural had half-naked girls and sex would this be happening?

(I think I'm failing at not being bitter)

Date: 2011-01-28 08:56 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lusciniate.livejournal.com
If Supernatural had half-naked girls and THAT much sex as TVD - probably not. And that's sad, because I like that this is one of the shows where they don't go for the sex the moment they have a bit too much time left after dealing with actual plot problems [like less than 25 minutes plot and then the rest of time is for kissing in different states of undress].

Does that really late announcement about pushing SPN back came after TVD aired? I mean do you think they aired TVD and then noticed the numbers they had for that show and thought that they had to somehow save the rating? Or they decided that before when they suddenly noticed what they are going against in that time slot? [And I honestly don't know why you should know that and why I am asking that to you :) ]

Date: 2011-01-28 04:25 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
Actually, I do know that, because the news came in around 3pm my time...which is 2 hours BEFORE TVD airs on the East Coast. So, it wasn't that they already saw the numbers, it was 2 hours before they would have any indication of the numbers.

Now the rumour is that it was Smallville's fault for the delay (a shooting plot they - suddenly - found in poor taste), I'm not sure if that's true or not, but even if it is...why delay Supernatural too and give us stupid excuses?

I mean, regardless of this decision, the network still advertises their T&A shows (TVD, Gossip Girl) way more than it advertises Supernatural...devil's advocate: could be a budgeting issue, with Supernatural using it's advertising budget on higher production values, but again, bitter-me really doesn't think that is the case. If they can't sell sex, they don't know how to sell something.

From: [identity profile] ramblin-rosie.livejournal.com
The BuddyTV story I've seen on the Smallville thing is dated Jan. 13, so I doubt that's the reason. And now that last night's numbers *are* in, it looks like the delay was for naught--it was the highest rated Thursday of the season. *headdesk*

Why do you build me up, buttercup, baby,
Just to let me down and mess me around?

From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
Not surprised it wasn't Smallville...it did sound a bit like wild-speculation.

I can only hope there are some repercussions for the network that don't injure our beloved show.
