SPN Hunt: Jared Is Adorable

I know, I said I wouldn't do this again, but word got 'round on Twitter that they were filming downtown this afternoon, and I couldn't resist...so I ditched my job for the afternoon, in favour of going downtown and watching Jared do his...

They were filming in an alley between Hamilton and Homer, just a block south of Pender. At first, we walked down Hamilton, and we saw them hanging a parking sign on the building. I do not know if they were hanging this sign because they had made it for the show, or if they were hanging it because they were putting it back up and it was there before. It looked like it belonged there, but they were making adjustments to it so that it would fit, so...maybe that's just how good the art department is - making things that look like they belong.

We couldn't see much from that end of the alley, so we went around the block and walked up Homer. There we ran into a crowd of onlookers - all fans, some of which I recognized from the convention (though, they weren't any one I talked to). There was also this really obnoxious paparazzi guy...more on him in a second...

Anyway, there was a security guard making sure that we *cough*paparazzi*cough behaved ourselves. He chatted happily with some fans, but kept his eyes on everything that was going on...definitely a competent security guy, I thought.

At first, I thought it was just crew down the alley, but then I recognized Mitch Pileggi. He was being fussed over by a crew member. Then my sister said  "Is that Jared?" and I looked down to see someone walking around who was 4 inches taller than everyone else...and confirmed that yes, the giant who looked like Jared was in fact Jared. My sister thought that was pretty cool. Jared talked to some people and then disappeared out of sight again. 

While this was all happening, the paparazzi dude was bragging to some of the fans about some of the pictures he's gotten...and complaining about how the paparazzi business worked, and how so-and-so was in bed with so-and-so which meant they they got first dibs on certain pictures, and blah blah blah...and then he launched into stories of pictures he hadn't gotten, or pictures his friends hadn't gotten (one of which included basically a foot chase and the actor puking in the bushes - probably not from excessive drinking, but rather mild drinking and then being chased down by an obnoxious paparazzi dude)...and he was SO OBNOXIOUS. I just wanted to punch him...or perhaps grab him by the balls and twist to see if his screams were as annoying as his voice.  So, I sort of wanted to leave, just because I couldn't stand listening to him anymore. And I'm sure he thought he was impressing the girls standing there with his stories, and maybe he was, because they were certainly laughing and indulging him, rather than giving curt answers and the cold shoulder...but there's no accounting for taste.

Anyway, it also made me want to not look at a non-official photo ever again, because I do not want to be indirectly responsible for employing obnoxious people to hound the footsteps of nice people who are just trying to do their job and make me an enjoyable TV show.

Just as I was thinking that if we left, we could use the same bus ticket to get home as we did to get there...Jared came back out of hiding, and started taking all the makeup off his neck...or possible all the sweat...in any case, there was a lot of neck wiping.

The whole time the obnoxious paparazzi dude was standing in the group of fans yelling "JARED" and "YOU'RE A PUSSY" to try to get Jared's attention. Jared, professional that he is, completely ignored him, or (hopefully) didn't even hear him.

Then a black SUV/truck pulled into the alley and Jared got in - and I realized that Jared was leaving. So my sister and I turned to leave, and then realized that there was only one way out of the alley and that was through the group of fans. The thing was though, that the group of fans (and paparazzi dude) were standing at the end of the alley on what would be the driver's side of the SUV/truck. My sister and I realized that if we crossed over to the other side of the alley mouth, than we would be on the passenger-side...that was the direction of the bus stop anyway, so we did that. 

Clif and Jared pulled out of the alley, and my sister and Jared looked at each other at the same time, and then did a little shy head-bob at the same time, and then waved little shy waves at each other at the same time...and it was all pretty damn adorable.

And then Jared and Clif pulled out into traffic, and my sister turned to me and said "Jared Padalecki just waved at me!" with a huge smile on her face...and then she floated down to the bus stop beside me and we made our way home. We got some celebratory smoothies on the way.

Personally, I think they're doing a vampire episode, because some of the guest actors looked like they would make good vampires. My sister was apparently making eyes at one of the guest stars (who was making eyes back) and she said that he was really hot. I told her she should have picked him up, to which she laughed, and faked yelled "Hey, wanna go out? I'm not as lame as I look!"

Anyway, might not have been vampires. One of the guest actors was a really tall drink of water, so I figure if he IS a villain, he's probably going up against Sammy. I still don't know how the heck they're reworking in their resurrected granddad, but I guess I'll just have to have faith that Sera knows what the heck she's doing.

So yeah...now, there's no guarantees that I will ever attempt to find them filming again. Or, if I do, that I will stick around for very long...especially if there's an obnoxious paparazzi guy beside me. But it was fun to do it at least once, and I'm happy that my sister got a little Jared moment out of it.

Now I'm going to have to work until 10pm to make up for this little escapade. :-P

That paparazzi dude sucks ass! Gawd! What a jerk! I hope Jared didn't hear what that guy was yelling at him, though I'm sure he's been through it before. *sigh*

No prob! It was cool to actually see the actors this time.

And from an academic-standpoint, it was interesting to see the paparazzi aspect of celebrity in action. Though, yeah, if I ever try to find the set again, I really hope I (or myself and other fans) are the only ones there. The fans there were all being very respectful.

Omg totally cute moment for your sister! ♥ Also ugh, I feel so bad for the actors. It's bad enough the paparazzi guy is following them, but to yell stupid shit at them, too? Sad :(

And yay, someone else who is dumbfounded as to how Grandpa Winchester is back, lol. But I have faith in Sera, too. XD

I'm really happy my sister got that little moment. I think she was feeling a little jealous that I got to go to the convention and see the boys in person...but now she has her own little Jared moment to make her smile. :)

And yeah! Haha, I'm eagerly awaiting the first episode to see how the heck they're going to explain this one!

I just wanted to let you know that I actually seriously cracked up at that, and also let you know that you are a total badass. I bet you that's the same guy my friend was telling me about,
cause there were paparazzi guys outside the Sheraton on... Saturday, I think, and we walked by just so we could glare at them. I may or may not have mouthed asshole at him, and let him know I was watching by doing that cheesy I have my eye on you gesture. He may or may not have seen me. Whatevs.

It was a very fun day. And we thankfully had sunny beautiful weather for it all too :)

And yeah, I really hope the poor weather scares him off this winter. I feel for the poor security team if that guy is hanging around every place they film now.

I'm sooo jealous! They actually were filming in the exact same spot all day on the Friday of the convention - sneaky buggers! I knew they were going to be back there this week but had to fly out on Wed... drove past the ally on Tues just to be able to recognize it when it airs! I don't know whether I heard this during a panel, on the location tour, or backstage, but that papparazzi guy? He's making a real nuisance of himself on set and around the guys. He may single-handedly ruin seeing them film for everybody -- but the point is, he's known and HATED by the entire crew...

Man, I wish there were something we could do to help get rid of him. He not only is a nuisance for the crew, but he also ruins it for the rest of us who just want to go and stand quietly off to the side and watch our favorite show come together.

I really feel sorry for the security team having to put up with the likes of him. (FYI: those pictures posted on Just Jared today of Brock and Jensen leaving the convention are taken by him.) I've decided not to look at paparazzi pictures anymore, because I don't want to be responsible for him getting paid. But that won't even be a drop in the bucket.

I feel like hiring my own security team to stand in a larger circle around the Supernatural security team and crew...haha...I think Jensen was dead-on when he said that the Supernatural fanbase is "very protective."

I totally forget to say THANKS for posting about your experience AND being an awesome fan - I do love that our fanbase is protective and polite... and such a great moment for your sister - but then that's the "guys" isn't it?

Oh, no problem. Unlike misery, when fun is shared, it's more fun! I'm also very thankful that the majority of the fanbase is polite and protective - otherwise I'd be ashamed to be in it, and that'd be no fun at all.

I'm not sure complaining to Just Jared would do anything, since they are probably only interested in the number of hits the pictures get their website or what-have-you. But, I suppose we could always try.

I think I saw that same paparazzi dude over by the VAG when they were filming HBO's "V" there last week. He was pretty douchey, to say the least. And had a huge telescopic lens. Mind you, it could've been anyone *shrug*

Super adorable. So adorable, I couldn't NOT share...haha.

I wish something could be done about these paparazzi people, sadly, there really is too big of an industry for them. Ah well, I'm just hoping they'll be less hearty in the winter months and leave the different production teams around town alone more often.
