Day 23 - Most annoying character

Hmmm....well, I can think of countless simpering female anime characters...so, let's stick to Supernatural.

I'm going to go ahead and say Meg.

Now, hear me out, because I know for some reason people love Meg... I find her annoying because I'm supposed to. She's a villain, so I have much the same reaction to her as Dean and Sam do whenever she shows up.

It also annoys me that we don't know her name. She's Meg because that's the first body they met her in. When she possesses Sam, Dean asks her who she is and she says "I go by many names - right now, I'm Sam" - which is all well and good, but every other demon had a constant name that was independent of the body they were in, and it sort of annoys me that we don't know hers.

I go back and forth on Becky. On the one side, she's sort of the female equivalent of Leonard on Big Bang Theory, and there's not enough geek girls on TV and she doesn't come off badly in comparison to Leonard. On the other side, she and Lisa are the only people on Show who are (1) female (2) recurring (3) alive (4) not antagonistic. (Possibly the only people on Show who are female, recurring, and alive, since the only other one I can think of who fits all three is Meg and I'm not sure she survived.) And Becky comes off very poorly in comparison to most of the one-ep women, especially in the eyes of Sam and Dean.

Becky is kind of like the Ghostfacers to me - I sort of compartmentalize her into "comedy" and I don't really think about her gender or her image. But that's me.

I can certainly understand why she annoys you though. As you point out, there are very limited recurring non-antagonistic (alive) females on the show, so it seems silly to waste one of those slots on someone who isn't necessarily shown in a non-crazy light.

Ghostfacers. Right. Do we count Maggie as recurring? Because she's referenced in 4x17 and she's prominent in the webisodes. And she's smart and geeky and she doesn't come off as even a little crazy. (Granted that might just be in comparison to the rest of her tribe of crazies.) And for bonus points she's of color.

I'd count Maggie as recurring, even though we only SEE her once, yeah...

And she does get bonus points for being Asian. I really have to wonder sometimes, how a show can film in Vancouver and have NO asians in it. I know it's mostly set in the states, but there are asians in the states too.
