Hello again!

So, today was nice. Usually on Sunday, I wake up and go to yoga - then spend the rest of the day lazing around, because I've done yoga, so therefore no longer need to exercise (that's how it works, right?) But today, I woke up, checked my email, lazed around, and then realized that I should probably go downtown and see my friends!

Mark, Ruth, Alex, Jared, Jensen, and Rob )

It was a really fun day, and honestly not something I expected I'd be able to do this year - so even just going for a single day was a treat. :)

That's right, folks! I've been so busy lately that I completely forgot to mention that I was attending a little bit of the Vancouver Supernatural convention this weekend!!

As opposed to other years that I've gone, this year I just have a ticket to the Saturday Night Special concert and a day ticket for Sunday (tomorrow...technically today!) This is all thanks to a very kind friend, who gifted me the tickets - as I am the technically living on the poverty line this year! Woo!

Anyway, I didn't bring my trusty notebook to a rock concert, because that's a LITTLE ridiculous, so I can't recall the order of who sang or what the songs were necessarily - but I just thought I'd tell you all that it was a great time. Matt, Ruth, Kim, Brianna, Jason Manns, Richard Speight, and of course Jensen, all sang.

Jensen did two songs, and he had a fun time playing with the audience on both of them. The first one was S.O.B. - which was a new one for him, but extremely appropriate for his character, of course, and everyone had a great time performing and listing to it. If you aren't familiar, you can hear the song sung by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats here. But I'm sure there were already twenty videos of Jensen singing it online before I even got home, then he sang Whipping Post.

Brianna has a lovely voice - just saying. She sung a song from her album, and it was great. Richard did Copperhead Road and killed it - he's got such a great voice for a song like that. It was actually more of a rock-version and he did a full on metal scream midway through that was great.

Before the show even really got going, DJ Qualls walked through the audience right in front of me. Now, let me tell you that I'm horrible at recognizing people - but that man has a pretty distinctive look, he's hard to miss. Nevertheless, I had to point him out to the friend I was sitting with - I wonder if he's just in town and stopping by, or if he's in town for the show.

At the end of the night, they did something they haven't done before (to my knowledge), and Rob brought a WHOLE TON of the crew onto the stage, and explained how they were the ones that made the show happen... they got a standing ovation, of course, and then then they all took part in the last song - with Kim, Brianna, Alex Calvert, DJ Qualls, and members of Loudain Swaine running through the crowd. I had to laugh at the fact that Brad Creasser (sp?) (a camera operator for the show) spent the number carefully walking around the stage with a cellphone camera filming everything. Way to bring your work with you, man! The friend I was with got to high-five Alex, who is adorable in real-life (which shouldn't be a surprise, because he looks adorable on the show too... but this was my first time seeing him in person.)

It was a really fun high energy night, and I have to say that closing number with everyone on stage was exactly what I needed after last week's episode. Just a remind of how amazing it is that this show has been on for 14 years, that there's this amazing community behind it, that I have all these friends from all over that I met through it, and that we all have these little traditions that we've built around the show's existence... like my Quick Reactions and Rewatches, but also going to my friend's place once a week for dinner and to watch the show, and seeing everyone who comes to town once a year for the convention (or drops in on vacation for a little location hunt... I've taken friends around a few times on those, and it's a lot of fun), or just the emails we all send each other to discuss the show or cute instragram posts by the actors, etc.

Tomorrow, I'll bring my little notebook and see if I can do an old-fashioned Con report, like I used to when I could afford the whole weekend. I have given myself a fairly impressive bruise on my right hand, so I'm a little worried about my ability to write for long periods of time - but hopefully another night of sleeping will get the swelling to go down a little more.
