Happy 4th of July to my American friends!

I'm happy to report that I've finally made it to the first instance of clothes-sharing in my posting list for the If Clothes Could Talk project!

Check out the entry for THE CHARCOAL HOODIE

Enjoy :)

To celebrate Canada Day, I'm going to post something that makes fun of Canadians through stereotypes! Because that's a very Canadian thing to do...

Enjoy Kate Beaton's Canadian Stereotype Fun:

Sadly, I always wanted my own canoe...

I love the line "..and got all fucked up on hockey" as though it's a recreational drug.

You should also check out Kate Beaton's website, the first cartoon that's up today is possibly my favorite Canadian-identity cartoon.

Anyway, hopefully it doesn't rain, because I want to go down to Jericho beach for the fireworks.

I was capping Simon Said tonight, and I caught this:

Awww...Dean's totally petting his upset little brother.

hells_half_acre: (laughing)
I told the episode title for tonight to Susie and she said "but a bitch ain't one?" and I was confused...after she explained, well, I couldn't NOT share:

I think the chorus IS pretty apt.

I've had better days, so I thought I would post a cap to cheer myself up....

It's Sam in Home! (1x09)

Look how small, innocent, and adorable he is!

I mean, Sam can get mad at Dean for being overprotective all he wants - but Sam, have you seen you? You are like a little puppy that I want to keep in a box under my bed so that no harm befalls you.

I found this picture in one of the reports over at the SuperWiki and it really made me laugh...

I think we should be thankful that the actors are more fun and outgoing than their characters ;-)

Again, I just can't resist posting this...

This evening, I was making a few caps/notes on Home, and I just happened to pause my DVD on the following image...

Needless to say, if my sister hadn't already gone to bed, I would have been laughing outloud...as it was, I nearly broke something holding it in. Sam's frowny faces are so hilarious.

So, in my spare time (what spare time?) I've been working on a time-consuming, most-likely-pointless, very fun Supernatural project. Similar to when I decided to make my timeline, it means that I have to watch the episodes again from the beginning - this time however, instead of just making notes, I get to make screencaps as well.

Sometimes I happen to hit pause at just the right time, and catch hilarious pictures. So, I thought I would share my two favorites from what I've done this past week:

Just when I thought Misha Collins couldn't get more adorable....

He goes and bakes a fan chocolates.

I found this image on Boing Boing today. Needless to say, it reminded me of Supernatural:

So, one of my older sisters has 3 kids, all very close in age. I believe they are 8, 7, and 5 right now....but I'm a horrible Aunt, so don't take my word for it. Anyway, this was my sister's facebook status (altered to leave out names):

*In the car*
Older sister: "Kids! Quit yammering about myths back there! It is impossible to bring people back from the dead!!!"
7-year-old nephew: "what?!? dammit. I have to make a phone call."

And no, they do not watch Supernatural :-P

Hilarious

Ok, this is not Supernatural related, but I can't resist posting: http://www.sleeptalkinman.blogspot.com/

I am laughing so hard that I'm crying. Basically - this dude talks in his sleep and his wife records it for our amusement. It's just so hilarious and random, and completely insane.

In other news...

YAY FOR SUPERNATURAL SEASON 6!!!!

I know there's some wank going on out there about Sera taking Kripke's position and Kripke taking a more supervisory/less-hands-on role....but that's why I stay away from 80% of the fandom, because it is CRAZY! Sera's awesome, the show is awesome, the boys are awesome, therefore S6 will be awesome. And even if it isn't, we still have the five season storyline of awesomeness to sit on our bookshelves.

This time, it was Susie who had the Supernatural-related dream.

She dreamt that she was home at our Mum's house, and Jensen was visiting someone across the street. She saw his truck and told Mum, "awesome, Jensen is in the neighbourhood!" and Mum said, "He's coming over for dinner!" Susie immediately freaked out, because in the dream she was wearing an over-sized Switchfoot band-shirt, and she thought she should attempt to look better - but before she could change, there was a knock on the door and Jensen arrived. Mum assured Susie that she looked fine - the casual music-lover look was deemed a good one and Susie was reassured.

So, Jensen sat down to dinner and then told Susie that he brought a Christmas present for her. He explained that he made her something, but he didn't have time to finish it. So, he gave her the present and it was a half-finished Ukulele.

And thus ended the dream.

At lunch today, I was surfing the net, and ended up reading Daneel's twitter page. I discovered that, like me, she once lived in Freiburg, Germany. I had the following conversation with Susie:

Me: Jensen's fiancee once lived in Freiburg too.
Susie: So did you! Small world!
Me: Also, Jensen bought her the Rosetta Stone Italian software for Christmas because she wants to learn Italian, I guess.
Susie: Like me!
Me: Yeah, I thought of you when I read it.
Susie: She's like a combination of you and me. Good choice, Jensen!

Hahaha...I love how some female-fans of Jensen would get disappointed that he is not single anymore (as if they ever had a chance), whereas Susie just sees it as confirmation that Jensen loves us, because we have stuff in common with his fiancee.  :-P

I'm having a rotten day at work, so I figured I'd cheer myself up by posting some fun things I enjoyed about Supernatural: The Official Companion - Season 1.  Mainly, the fact that Jared and Jensen are hilarious.

At the beginning of the book, there is a little blurb in the info on the Pilot that features this gem: "When asked what he brings to the character, Jared Padalecki says, "great looks" without missing a beat."

Then way in the back of the book, under the character description of Dean, we get this mirror: "To further blur the line, Ackles gives a very Dean-type response when asked what he brings to the character: 'Amazing abs.' "

And this is what I like to call: They Do It To Themselves:

Jared
: "The next thing I knew, they wanted me to meet this guy, Jensen Ackles, and I was like 'Jensen Ackles? I have his posters on my wall!'"

More Serious Review
Ok, that stuff aside: I finished the companion to Season 1 last night. I liked it. It's mostly interviews with crew or writers about how they pulled off one particular aspect of each episode - so the info ranges from slightly boring to really interesting depending on what your tastes are and where your interests lie.

You do get a taste for Jensen's sarcasm (which I love) whenever he turns up, and you get the regular gushing over how fabulous the guys are to work with from any guest actors who are interviewed. You also get a lot of gushing about Kim Manners - which makes me sad for everyone because they must miss him dreadfully.

I particularly liked that the Music guys come up a lot...(Jay and Christopher). I'm someone who never really notices the music in Supernatural while I was the show - (unless it's a particular classic rock music montage thing, like in 5x03 with Simple Man) - but the original compositions blend their way into the scene and influence my mood without me really realizing that music is playing. For that reason, I find it interesting to read how much thought goes into it to give it that effect, and the different motifs and whatnot...My good friend DOES notice the music in Supernatural (because he is that sort of guy) and I know that between Jay and Christopher there is one guy that he really likes and one guy that he doesn't like - and can tell who worked on what episode without looking at the credits. I'll have to ask him which is which now, because I can't remember. But anyway, I think I'm digressing.,..

Other than all that, it's interesting to see just how much about the story arc WASN'T planned out from the get go. I think it's a testament to the writers that they can weave in everything they do to make it look like it was always the intent to be where they are today, when it's quite obvious that they are mostly making it up as it goes along. I mean - I know Kripke has said he always had a particular five-season story arc in mind, but after reading the Companion, it seems like it was a very VAGUE story arc...which, sort of actually gives me a little more confidence for the idea that if there IS a season 6 - it might not actually suck, they might actually still be able to take the story someplace cool. Or at least, I can hope.

Next I'm going to read the Companion for Season 3, because my Season 2 Companion has a projected arrival date of February (sadly).

Man, Sherlock movie was enjoyable! It was awesome fun. It jazzed me all up. It was funny and action packed, and the gay subtext was barely subtext.

Plus the music was phenomenal! Seriously excellent score. I love how it's basically all fiddle music, but manages to be a full action movie score. The costumes were really well done too.

I also really like Jude Law, and not because he is dreamy (I don't actually happen to think he is that much, and if you've ever seen him naked, you'd probably agree with me - sorry Jude.) No, I like Jude Law because I always forget that he's Jude Law. Apparently my sister can never forget that he's Jude Law, so maybe this is just me - but seriously, that guy just becomes whatever character he is playing in my mind. So did Robert Downey for that matter, though it took him more time because I was scrutinizing his accent for the first 20 minutes or so (as far as I could tell it was passable).

Funny, that when you have a  movie full of people doing British accents, the American accents in the film are quite jarring.

Anyway, hilarious and a good time had by all (or at least by me)

Now, for no reason whatsoever, here's a funny picture of Ralph Fiennes and Daniel Radcliffe:

Run Daniel! Ralph Fiennes is stuck in character!

One thing I love about the fact that I've gotten two of my good friends into watching Supernatural is that I get to have some hilarious conversations with them.

One friend is currently working his way through S4. He just finished watching On The Head of a Pin and It's A Terrible Life. Unfortunately, he was half-asleep while watching OTHOAP, so I was repeating the major information learning in that episode in case he missed it:

Me says:
you also get the reveal that Sam's been drinking demon blood
Friend says:
yeah, I was wondering about that
I thought he was sacrificing virgins or something
Me says:
Hahaha
Friend says:
when I saw that, I was like, Oh! Well, THAT'S fine
Me says:
Glad to know Sam's still in your good books.
Friend says:
;-) *thumbs up*

Love this tweet from Misha:

mishacollins It seems that every time we mobilize on the interweb, something breaks. You're like 22 thousand bulls in a china shop.

PS: If anyone knows how to do links to twitter posts, let me know. I do not.

I'm visiting some friends in my old university town this weekend, and they have all the 3rd Rock from the Sun episodes on DVD. They put them on as "background noise" while making dinner/chatting/whatever.

So, I'm sitting there watching some episodes from Season 4 or Season 5 (because I barely watched those seasons when it originally aired), and suddenly I see someone who looks familiar.

"Holy crap! Is that Bobby?!"

And yes, yes it is. I had no idea Jim Beaver had a little recurring role on 3rd Rock. He plays Harry's boss at the bar, Doug. Crazy! He could use his "You are either insane or an idiot" expression on 3rd Rock too.
