Remembrance Day Comment-Fic-Meme!
Nov. 10th, 2009 11:20 pmUp here in Canadaland, Nov. 11 is Remembrance Day - which means I don't have to work! So, in honour of all those who fought for my country in wars and whatnot, I'm going to spend the day writing fanfiction.
And you, dear flist, are going to give me prompts!
WHAT TO DO: Leave me a prompt in comments! I will write a little drabble to fulfil it.
RULES:
1. I only write Gen.
2. I don't watch much TV, so if you suggest crossovers, I might not have the knowledge to do it.
3. For those of you who friended me based on my Harry Potter/Supernatural crossover. You CAN prompt me to write with the Harry Potter characters; HOWEVER, if it is already a scene that I'm working on for the sequel, I may refuse the request, because I don't want to spoil the surprise...or I may still write it, but not set it in the Damned Demented Demon 'verse.
4. You can prompt until the end of Nov. 11th (in whatever time zone you are in.)
PROMPT AWAY!
PS: I'll feel really pathetic if nobody prompts. I've been jazzing myself up to do this for a whole week.

Date: 2009-11-15 10:24 pm (UTC)"No way! That’s my division championship soccer trophy. I can’t believe he kept this," Sam said, taking it from Dean. Just holding it, brought back all the memories of that summer.
He had wanted to play soccer so badly. It was all his friend Alejandro talked about, and they needed another player for the team, and Sam had confessed all this to Dean one night. He had stayed in bed longer the next day, though Dean hadn't asked him to...and he had listened while Dean begged their father to let them stay the season, to let Sam play soccer instead of taking them up to Colorado to teach them bow-hunting. He had listened while Dean promised all sorts of things to make up for the break in training, for staying put. And when Sam finally did get out of bed, he knew what part Dean needed him to play...he knew that Dean hadn't really wanted him to listen. So, he got up and pretended to be groggy, pretended he had just woken.
"So, Sam...I'm thinking we might stay here for a couple more months," his father had said. "Or you and Dean will anyway. That be ok with you? You might get bored. You'll have to find some activity to pass the time with..."
Sam had smiled broadly and nodded, and seen Dean's answering smile from behind their father. Then his Dad had ruffled his hair and passed over the lucky charms, and Sam had been happy.
Dean had come to every game, standing apart from the other parents. Dad was away most of the summer and Sam had expected Dean to gripe about having to stay behind to look after Sam, but he never did. He just stood at the edge of the soccer field in his combat boots, and smiled whenever Sam assisted with a goal, or successfully blocked a pass.
Dad had been on a Hunt when Sam won the trophy, but when they got home, Dean placed it in the middle of the kitchen table facing the door before they went to bed. Sam woke up in the morning to find his Dad sitting on his bed, looking tired, but smiling at him warmly.
"Good job, Sammy" his Dad had said, then patted him once on the chest and disappeared out the door. The trophy was on his nightstand.
They packed up and left the next day, and Sam didn't have a chance to say goodbye to Alejandro, but he figured that was just as well - because that way the last memory for both of them would be one where they were flushed with victory. It was a good note to leave on.
Sam packed the trophy, and would put it next to his bed whenever they stopped for more than a night. Whenever he unpacked it, it brought back the memories of being on the soccer team - eating oranges at half-time, seeing Dean smiling from the sidelines, his father praising him for something that normal kids get praised for...it made him feel normal.
"Yeah, it’s probably the closest you ever came to being a boy," Dean said as if reading Sam's mind.

Ron knew that he should really just get used to it, but it was easier said than done. Krum hadn't been the only one over the years to get a crush on Hermione...after all, Krum had been before Hermione was even a war hero. War hero status brought out all sorts of admirers. Still, Ron had never imagined that he'd have to contend with Hunters of all people...
And they weren't being particularly obvious, not really. It's just that now that they were milling around the safe-house with nothing to do until Harry woke up, well, there were less distractions, and more time to realize that the Winchesters definitely had a thing for his wife.
It was the little things that gave them away. The way Dean was constantly smiling at her, like they had been sharing secrets, and Hermione always blushed and then looked slightly confused at her own reaction. He was also always opening doors for her and offering to help her with the cooking, or telling her that she didn't need to cook at all and him and Sam would make her something, in return for being so "awesome."
Then there was Sam, who blushed whenever Hermione smiled at him, and ducked his head like she had caught him out on something just by looking at him. He sometimes stumbled over words when he was taking to her, then Dean would laugh at him, and Sam would glare at Dean, and Hermione would stop that argument and then they'd BOTH smile at her like she hung the moon...and Ron really wished Harry would wake up, because he was either going insane or the Winchesters really did fancy his wife.
"They fancy you," Ron said to Hermione once they were lying in bed.
"Don't be silly," Hermione responded. After all these years, Ron was still surprised that Hermione never picked up on these things...and he was supposed to be the unobservant one?
"They're handsome," Ron said, then realized how that sounded, "I mean...do you think they're handsome?"
Hermione laughed lightly at him. Merlin, he loved her laugh.
"Mmm, not as handsome as you," Hermione answered, and Ron sighed.
"I'm seriously, Hermione," Ron said with a sigh.
"Ron," Hermione said in that tone of voice, "do we really need to have this discussion again?"
"They're handsome and they adore you," Ron said, waving his hand in the air as if that explained everything.
"Dean likes you too, I think," Hermione replied, "If you think he's so handsome, maybe you should say something."
"That's not what I mean!" Ron defended quickly, feeling himself blush in the darkness. Hermione just laughed.

Date: 2009-11-21 09:08 am (UTC)"You're really beautiful, Hermione," Ron said, "I'm not surprised they fancy you. Sometimes I'm just surprised that you agreed to marry me"
"Only because you're amazing and I love you," Hermione said, and kissed his cheek affectionately, "but they don't fancy me because of my looks, dear."
"What?" Ron said, "'course they do! You're gorgeous!"
"Ron," Hermione replied, "I still have baby-weight from Hugo, and I'm not sure I've slept through a single night since he was born. I'm not saying I'm ugly, but I've definitely seen better days."
"Nonsense!" Ron said, "they really do fancy you!"
"They do, yeah," Hermione replied, "but only because I took down six demons all on my own."
Ron felt his jaw drop, and Hermione giggled beside him as she pushed it back up with a finger.
"I don't know if fancying you because you are amazing is better or worse than fancying you because you are gorgeous," Ron admitted.
"It doesn't matter," Hermione said, "I'm married to you."
"You could always leave me for them," Ron said.
"Hmm, no," Hermione whispered, running a hand down Ron's chest "they really aren't my type."
"No?" Ron whispered, turning to press a kiss to her forehead.
"No, I like my men British, and magic, with red-hair, and a matching wedding ring to mine, and being the father of my children..." Hermione replied smoothly, "...plus, if I were to leave you for the Winchesters, well, there's the whole psychosis of being an extension of a weapons fetish, but I'm not sure that really constitutes proper bedroom-talk."
"Mmm...love it when you use big words..." Ron mumbled, having missed half of what she said because of where her hands were.
"Mm, maybe I was mistaken then," Hermione laughed. Merlin, Ron loved her laugh.
