"Hey," you say to me. "Didn't you say you were going to finish up the S13 clothing posts, and then do a bunch of other stuff? How come that hasn't happened yet?"

Oh, well... you see....

I'm currently writing a non-fandom short-story for a little local thing that my friends are doing, and it's due on Thursday, so a lot of my time has gone into that.

...and also...

GOOD OMENS

For those who don't know - Good Omens is six part miniseries that is an adaptation of a Neil Gaiman + Terry Prachett novel of the same name. It follows the unlikely partnership of an angel (Aziraphale) and a demon (Crowley) as they try to prevent Armageddon.

So, Good Omens aired on Amazon Prime, and then I promptly stole it, because I am but a poor person and I really hate how we're expected to have fifty-billion streaming sites now. And then I watched it.... and then I watched it again... and then I cut it into a 3 hour movie of just Aziraphale and Crowley's storyline (as I am wont to do.)

Needless to say, it's VERY GOOD. It has all the best bits that I remember from the book, and also a few little changes and additions that I think just make it even MORE awesome.

When the casting was announced eons ago, I have to admit that I was a little bit skeptical - I thought David Tennant might be really good for Crowley (in this case, for those still reading who aren't familiar with the book, it's pronounced CROW-ly, rather than SPN's CROWE-ly - also briefly 'Craw-ly' before he changes it. Also, for those who aren't aware, SPN's character was an homage to the Good Omens one, as Good Omens came out in 1990 and Kripke is huge fan).

I was a little skeptical about Michael Sheen, i think just because I haven't had the pleasure of seeing him in anything before, and also he didn't QUITE match up with how I pictured Aziraphale... and while it's true that he didn't play him quite like I imagined Aziraphale, I have to say that I think he might have...done it... better. :P

So, needless to say, I'm IMMENSELY PLEASED with the miniseries.

Also, they got permission from Brian May to include all the Queen songs!!!! It's so well done, and they're always chosen so well for the scene!

My only criticism is a minor-directorial one, in that there's a few blocking/character-position issues towards the end when things get a little bit epic and there's a lot of people in space to keep track of... but again, it's SO MINOR. Overall, the whole thing is near perfection.

Also, just in case you go wading into fandom - there's a lot of talk right now about when exactly Crowley and Aziraphale fall in love with each other. Most everyone agrees on Aziraphale realizing that he's in love in 1941, but the dominate thing to do is just assume that Crowley was in love from the jump. Personally, though, I think Aziraphale has been in love from the jump (Michael Sheen has been quoted as saying that he played Aziraphale as a being who couldn't do anything BUT love), but only realized/admitted it to himself it in 1941 (he then spends up until the present trying to deny it), and Crowley fell in love in Rome (41AD) and then only admitted it to himself when he ran into Aziraphale's burning bookshop. Aziraphale stopped denying it around the same time... possibly, actually, as soon as he realized God wasn't going to help him (once you don't have to worry about pleasing God, you can admit a lot of things to yourself).

And of course, there's a whole section of tumblr who things the show is queerbaiting because Crowley and Aziraphale never make-out or something - but I don't think they watched the same show, personally... or at least, need to have a lesson on metaphor comprehension. I do like the fact that the creators of the show have affirmed that Crowley and Aziraphale love each other, but being that they're an angel and a demon, they aren't actually sexual beings, so that love is expressed differently than it would be if they were humans.

And seriously, the way Michael Sheen delivers the line "You go to fast for me, Crowley" is just... perfection. As is the way David Tennant figured out the SAUNTER.

ANYWAY, go watch it, if you haven't. And then write me a bunch of fic, because I don't have time to do it myself!

Good Omens is THE BEST and I will go down with this ship.

I love how you timeline everything. I hadn't decided/figured out when exactly Aziraphale and Crowley figured themselves out, but what you say makes sense. Headcanon accepted :)

No worries, I'll just *sigh* have to rewatch the whole thing! Such tragedy!
