The 15th and Final Season

I don't know how to embed media on here - but I just happened to check twitter right as Jared posted the video announcement....

The 15th Season is going to be the Finale Season of Supernatural! 

Amazing.

I had given up predicting when they were going to end the show. I knew there was a good chance they'd stop after 300, because Jensen had gotten into trouble before for talking about it like it would be the last goal they reached. But, I also thought that they were going to stop after S10, and then after S13, because Jared had talked about stopping when Thomas was old enough for kindergarten.

15 is a good number.

I'm going to have to adjust some life routines! There is going to be a TRANSITION that's for sure.

The final rewatch will carry me into 2021 - and then I'll be able to wrap up the clothing catalog. Maybe I'll revisit some other fan projects that I put on hold as canon just seemed to get increasingly intimidating.

We'll see!

In the meantime, what a historic day in our little-big fandom family. I'm sure everyone is feeling all of the feelings. I know I am.

It's going to be so strange not having new eps comin out anymore... wow.

Yeah, it's hard for me to fathom. Supernatural is now the ONLY show that I watch in old-school style, where I watch the new episode immediately upon release, instead of either only (illegally or otherwise) later.

For the past 9 years, it's also been an excuse to go have dinner at my friend's place once a week - we're going to have to think of some other reason in the fall of 2020!

That sounds like an awesome weekly tradition. I suppose you have a year to figure it out. No other show will be quite the same. You could do a rewatch? There's another fifteen years there.

I watch everything as it's released because spoilers, but other shows go in and out and stop watching if I stop enjoying them week to week. Supernatural... I've had a lot of emotional falling outs with SPN but still watch it every week because, I guess, I always wanted to see the good bits and pieces buried in the frustrating muck.

What do you think they'll do between now and the final finale? I think it will depend on what they are planning to do with Jack this season. And how much they're going to a) listen to what we fans want, and b) try to get as many secondary characters back for a send-off (hopefully with less of them DYING).

I'm hoping the favourites will get an episode each to say goodbye; a Charlie episode, a Rowena episode, a Mary episode, etc. Maybe they can still turn up in the final finale as a Big Teamwork Effort to tackle whatever their final big bad is.

I'm not one to speculate - so I'll just hope that whatever they do, I'll be pleased with it. I definitely would like it if people get nice send offs. My fear would be that the writers will think they have to "wrap things up" rather than "leave things satisfyingly open" for each character. I'd prefer to have people like Jody and Donna still alive and hunting out there, for example - but it IS supernatural, so they'll probably kill everyone instead. :P This is all why I don't speculate.

I too have distanced myself emotionally from the show over the years - I sort of consider everything after S5 to be kind of a tie-in-novel. Hahaha... but I do have all these little traditions built around the show, so I've never stopped watching (though sometimes they've pissed me off so much, if it were any other show I would have.) I like liking things, so I've always found something to enjoy about it, even when the storylines themselves disappointed me.

I'm sure whatever they tackle next will be suitably ridiculously epic for a finale.

That's a very good reason not to speculate :) For myself, I'll wait to see what they do and then fix everything I don't like by with fanfic or by flatly ignoring it. Yay denial.

seasons 1-5 were definitely the best, but there's too much post-s5 stuff that I love to not consider it part of canon. Just. The much weaker plot part. And Charlie never died, because that would be unforgiveable.

I've switched out canon for my demented'verse canon in my head, where not only did Charlie live, but so did Kevin. As result, Jack doesn't exist, but I'm okay with that. Eileen is still alive too.

I did the same with my Saving People 'verse, though I never finished it.

The world needs more Eileen!
