1. My fitbit hasn't recognized my internet connection since Thursday, apparently. I don't know what the heck is up with that. Anyway, I was brainstorming ways to fix it - but then I was like "do I really need a fitbit?" I mean, it's kinda fun. I also use it to track sleep, and that can be helpful in answering the question "am I depressed because my life sucks, or because I haven't gotten more than 6 hours sleep/night in over a month?" And I guess it kinda guilts me into walking more sometimes... but.... I could also probably figure out a way to guilt myself... like, put it on my calendar that I gotta walk every day, and then when I don't, I'm not allowed to check the box to say I did. Anyway.... maybe it was a fun novelty for a bit and if it's legit broken, I can just say goodbye to it. I've had it for nearly 2 years.... which suddenly seems like eons to me.

2. I really want to see Ghostbusters and the new Star Trek movie, but I am SO BUSY. Seriously, I don't know when the heck I'm going to see those movies, but it probably won't happen until mid August. I am sad.

3. VanCon - I am most likely not going this year. Last year, I was only able to go through the kindness of a stranger in the fandom. Someone who I feel like I let down in the repayment of that favour, btw - but that might be just my own weird issue. ANYWAY... while money isn't as tight as it was last year, it's still pretty tight. We'll see though. Maybe I'll go see Ghostbusters and Star Trek that weekend instead, if they're still in theatres.

4. I've gotten into Check Please! fandom recently. It's enjoyable.

5. God, the world is going to shit, isn't it? What the heck is up with that?

6. I know it's Comic-Con weekend. It's been fun to see the new trailers. I'd be following it all more closely, but like I said I'm SUPER BUSY.

7. Published a short follow-up to my second most popular crossover about a week ago. So far, it's been received pretty nicely. I wish I could write more prolifically - I've got the next demented'verse installment all outlined too... but SO BUSY. Maybe in mid August, once I manage to watch those movies I wanna see?

8. is my favourite. You can't write it backwards.

I feel you. Hang in there! <3

I've been considering #5 more than usual with this crazy election here in the States. But yeah. What the heck IS up with that?

Man... it's ridiculous. I keep thinking "well, maybe this will get the republican party to restructure..." but that's what I thought after the last election, and they just got worse! More than that, any hope of restructure is hinged on them losing the election - if they win, which we have to assume is possible, then Canada has a fascist gov't on two sides of it.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out how to invite every single dark-skinned person to move to Canada...

And that's just the STATES...

I'm thinking the Mayans really were just two years off.

I teach in Los Angeles, so 99% of my students are Latino, and many of them are Mexican. Last year we went on a field trip to Olvera Street, which is one of the oldest segments of downtown LA, a Mexican marketplace with some historical landmarks that have been preserved. As I was walking through with my 7th grade students, one girl shook her head wistfully and said, "What's going to happen to this place, miss?" When I asked her, "What do you mean?" she looked at me like I was crazy or stupid. "Uh...DONALD TRUMP?" she said. And then she didn't explain any further. As if the first presidential action that Donald Trump would make would be to destroy all Mexican cultural landmarks in southern California. Part of me thought that was hilarious. Part of me is genuinely afraid.

My students hate him as much as they love Justin Trudeau. ;)

Well, tell them, if Donald Trump wins, I'll work on finding a way to move them all up to Canada too. And I'm sure Justin Trudeau would too, if it came down to it.

It's scary times! Our only hope really is that Trump is defeated in a landslide, along with any republican that might support him... but... man, that depends on Americans NOT being as racist as they seem right now, and I'm afraid that they ARE as racist as they seem right now.

You also get the problem that the people in power in a lot of states are actively repressing the votes of the minorities that are in the most danger. Ugh, it's a shit-show.

Nice to how you've been :)
Super busy and not enough money to do all that you want to do... sounds familiar ;D

1. I've had a fitbit for a year. I've gained 12 pounds. :( (Although, I do think it's more because my dog is getting old and arthritic, and our walks have become shorter and slower.)

However, if you contact Fitbit, they may replace it. I only bought mine once, but I'm on the third one. The first one had the band fall apart, and the second stopped charging. Both times I contacted the company and they replaced it free of charge.

2. I have time, but all my movie-going friends have moved or have kids, and I hate to go to a movie alone. I'll be waiting until they come out on DVD...

7. I liked!

8. ??? :D

Yeah, fitbit doesn't actually do much to help you lose weight - I mean, it just provides you with information.

I did an uninstall/reinstall of the software, and that seems to have fixed the problem. My holder/case is broken, and it'd be nice to get that replaced - but it's not the end of the world. Still, good to know that the company might replace things on their dime.

I don't mind going to the movies alone, but... yeah, just so busy.

:)
