Awww.... *HUGS* even though there weren't any in the episode....

Once again, I don't even know where to begin....

As soon as I saw the Religious guy give Dean that look, I knew he was trouble! Man...

Cas waiting by the side of the road is hilarious. As is the line "Dean this isn't funny. The voice says I'm almost out of minutes."

Dean's phone conversation with Sam. Already we see a huge difference from last season in the way the boys interact with each other...they are completely and brutally honest. Sometimes, a little two brutally. Dean was wrong though...and I'm glad that he figured that out in the span of the episode. I think he figured it out as soon as Future!Dean told him that Sam was "dead", let alone when he added that he hadn't spoken to him in 5 years.

ETA: I also forgot to mention the fact that Dean said "love" to Sam. That this is the first time in the show that anyone has said the word "love" when referring to each other. The thing about the show that gets me is how they do emotions and behaviour so well...it always rings true with the way guys would actually act in the situation. So, I love the fact that Dean said the word "love" not in "I love you" but in "this thing between us - love, family - whatever..." Because in MY family "I love you" is never said unless you are drunk. It is IMPLIED. It is UNDERSTOOD. There is no need to say it. And I love the fact that this has always been true for the Winchesters as well. So yes, Dean saying the word "love" is awesome, but I'm happy it wasn't in a cheesy way, because that's not what I come to this show for.

Oh, man, I need to take a moment right now to say JENSEN IS AMAZING. Seriously, I kept forgetting that he was basically just acting by himself for the whole episode. It really did feel like there were two completely different Deans on the screen and in the room as all times.

Ok, the pink satin panties thing....HA! Brilliant. I can just see the fanfic now...most of it, I will most likely be avoiding, but I love the information regardless. Mainly, it's just because I'm attracted to men who are comfortable with their sexuality....mmm...Dean.

Future!Cas his hilarious. I really like how he immediately knew Dean wasn't Dean...or wasn't "now Dean". I love the lazy smiles and the way he giggled at everything Dean said....and when Future!Dean called him on it, I love his response of "I like Past-you!" I was just as horrified as Dean was that Future!Dean would sacrifice him.

Future!Dean telling Dean to say yes was horrible! I was like NOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo......there's a middle ground, and that's how they'll win. Dean can't cut Sam out of his life and go hard-core extremist, but he also can't just give in to the demands of the angels - neither will work. What he has to do is keep Sam by his side and find the compromise between the two extremes. I fully believe that Sam would only capitulate to Lucifer if he felt abandoned by Dean and scared and alone..ugh, it's sad.

Ok, now I'm going to take a short break and say that JARED IS AWESOME. He did such a great job on Lucifer being in Sam's body...because there we were, looking at Sam, but it wasn't Sam at all. And man, that white suit....dude really has a nice figure.

Again, I need to say how awesome Jensen is...because that whole conversation with Lucifer...how he was able to just slowly well-up with tears. He wasn't saying anything personal, he wasn't telling a sad story, he was threatening Lucifer, he was being insulting, he was fighting...yet he was able to show how completely torn apart Dean was...how completely destroyed the whole thing left him. And I don't even know how many takes that took, but man....it was good, and he's a talented guy.

Zach is getting angry. I love Dean telling him that he learned something, but it wasn't what Zach intended. Brilliant.

Oh man, when Dean disappeared, for a second Susie and I thought he had done it himself, and we were like "WAIT! HOW DID HE LEARN THAT!?!?" Then we realized it was Cas and felt like idiots...haha.

I love Cas's soft smile when he transports Dean to the side of the road. I love the way Dean sort of reaches out to him, like he wants to hug him. I love that he doesn't, though (I know some of you will hate me for that, but it's true, see my above rant on love)...I like him telling Cas to never change.

I especially like him phoning Sam.

I love the fact that they used the same bridge as in Salvation, when they parted ways with John - but this time it was to reunite.

When Dean reached into his jacket, Susie said "OH NO!" thinking that maybe Dean was going to kill Sam...hahaha, I must admit, my heart leaped a bit too, even though I knew there was no way he could possibly do it.

And then we get the boys back together again...and we get the moral, which is that they might be each other's weak spot, but they are also each other's strength, because they keep EACH OTHER human. I like this show, because it's not about Dean keeping demon-blooded Sam human...it's about Sam keeping Dean human too. It's about them needing that touchstone in their mad lives. They've both been forcibly turned into various forms of monsters when they've been separated.

Oh man, and I love Dean being repulsed by the thought that Future!Dean was back into torture.

Ok, I think that's it for now. I know there's probably loads of stuff that I've forgotten, but hopefully I've got the important bits.

Man....once again, blown away by both Jensen's and Jared's acting. They are both so very talented. Misha too! Sorry...shouldn't have forgotten him!

You can't forget Misha!

The thing I loved best about this episode was not where it was scary or sad outright (although those parts were done well all the same), but the parts that were funny and strange, because they managed to carry this subtle and deeply disturbing quality beneath it all. Castiel was one of the best examples of that.

Yes! Definitely agree on that! Future!Cas was hilarious, but also WRONG! I mean, just creepily odd to watch. So you were laughing, but thinking "this isn't right.

Loved it! I just thought of something else I wanted to add to my post...

He also seemed to me very, very sad. It's like...I was laughing and creeped out, and it took me a bit to pin it down, but it was like...well, this is going to sound crazy, but he reminded me of the 9th Doctor. The crazy abandon of people who've lost everything and don't care any more. The underlying and absolute despair.

And it was as wrong and twisted as Dean's becoming the ends-justify-the-means guy, but it cut deeper, I think. We've seen Dean broken enough that while it stings, it wasn't quite as unnerving, just straight up sad.

Also: I've never really gotten the fandom obsession with hugging...my reaction was always along the lines of, "well, they don't seem the huggy type, so whatever." No so this time. Towards the end, I was basically shouting "now hug him! hug him!". Because seriously, there should have been some hugging. Especially with the expression on Sam's face.

Also: Chuck. <3. My love for him continues to have no bounds.

Yes! Very much like the 9th Doctor! I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but you're right. He's come to regret everything. Losing his "better club" and the way he laughs at Past!Dean is like someone who is laughing because they're being shown something they once enjoyed but have lost somewhere along the way....if that makes any sense.

And yeah, at the end Dean could've hugged Sam...but those two never hug unless one of them is dying or has come back from the dead. I think even a friendly pat on the shoulder would have been nice though.

I actually found it to be a rather abrupt sort of unfinished ending. I forgot to mention that in the post, but for a second I thought the station had made a mistake and we were missing a line somewhere. It was slightly odd.

Oh also...I love how DEAN takes Future!Dean to task for being broken/damaged/wrong. I mean, that says a lot right there. Dean becoming that dude was completely unnerving, because he wasn't recognizable to us anymore...he had lost what made him Dean (and I think that's what he realized too, hence his line about keeping each other human.)

the more I think about it, the more this episode was just made of six kinds of awesome.

You know, I've gotta do a short recap of it for something, and I'm dreading it, because I'm having trouble not going all fangirl over it. "And then! It was awesome! Because you know, he did this thing! and it was creepy! but funny, and also really kind of sexy too, and OMG, everyone is so brilliant, because you know..."

Dude! That's basically what I do in these posts! Hahaha...that's why I have these quick-reactions, and then wait a whole goddamn year and do my rewatches with the DVDs, so that I can sound somewhat more intelligent.

Man, I love this show. Mostly for my quick-reactions all I want to write is "AWESOME!!!" and leave it at that. :-P

Have you ever seen the "Bum Review" videos? That's totally me after the show. I don't think they're a web sensation or anything, so you probably haven't. They're movie reviews by a character who gets very excited about everything and starts out every review with "oh my god this was the GREATEST MOVIE EVER" and waves his arms around a lot. Anyway, the show always makes me feel like that guy, jumping up and down and not making much sense.

Haha! No I haven't heard of those. But that sounds similar to me after a show.

If you get the chance (which I'll understand if you take a pass on it - it's really long and rambly), I've got my own reaction up and in it I point out that I don't think Dean really went to the future - I think it was all an angel-induced acid trip. A really bad one designed to get Dean to agree to the whole Michael-thing.
