Ben Edlund has left Supernatural :(

I'm horribly sad now.

He was my favourite... and he and I seemed to have similar thoughts about where Sam and Dean could ultimately end up... and he just writes so GODDAMN WELL.

He's left to go work on Revolution - a show that I don't have any interest in whatsoever.

I know there are still lots of great writers on Supernatural, so don't get me wrong - this isn't me saying that the show is going to suck now and it's all downhill from here. This is just me saying that someone took all the sprinkles off my cupcake and I really like sprinkles, goddamn it!

Agh, no! I loved what Edlund brought to the show, I mean it’s Carver Edlund (with Chuck = Kripke) – the three writers who were at the heart of the show. With two now gone I am going to be sad :(. At least we still have some incredibly writers.

Yeah, I'm pretty bummed about it. :(

But there ARE still good writers on the show. Carver's proven himself to be pretty damn good, and Robbie Thompson managed to really delight me this year... but yeah, it's the end of another SPN era, I feel like.

I can't say I'm surprised though. Edlund's pretty amazing and we were lucky to have him stay on SPN as long as he did.

Loosing Carver was hard. Now this. Kripke has stolen yet another for Revolution. Next thing we know Padalecki and Ackles will be in season four along with Mark Shephard and Rob Benedict etc....

I started watching Supernatal because I saw Ben was a writer for it.
He wrote my very favorite episode -On the Head of a Pin, and a lot of other favorites.
It won't be the same without him : (

Revolution certainly needs SOMETHING - be interested to see what Edlund brings - certainly i think some of the emotional depth it needs,. Don't think he'll get the same range to to do what he does on SPN tho.

He'll be sadly sadly missed by me and I am sure many in the SPN Family.

Yeah, I'm surprised at the choice to go over really, given that it would be far more constraining that SPN - but I guess after 6 years on SPN, Edlund might just want something different.

I'm going to miss him hugely. I always looked forward to the Edlund episodes, because I always knew they'd deliver something rich and amazing.

I'm not even sure Edlund can save Revolution though, so I'm going to be petty and hope that Revolution goes under next year and Edlund comes back for S10. :P

Sounds like Kripke is pulling out all the stops to save Revolution. But why sabotage the really good show he created?

(Sorry, I'm a little bitter about investing in Revolution for a character, only to have that person killed off. And it happened twice. It doesn't matter that Ben is there now, I'll never watch it I have a two-strike rule.)

Maybe Edlund will still write some episodes for SPN? I hope? Or maybe they can bring back Raelle Tucker!?!

Yeah, I really don't think Kripke should be poaching from SPN. That's uncool. But, it's not like Edlund is a mindless worker-bee who has to follow the queen. He obviously is looking for a change.

It will be interesting if they'll get someone in to replace him and who... obviously, whoever they get won't have the history with the show though, unless they bring back someone from the past like Raelle.

Losing Edlund is definitely a blow to the show, and the writers coming in to replace him I'm not all that confident in. I am just worried that with Edlund gone Eugenie Ross-Lemming will get more episodes to write, which really worries me. She is not exactly the best, and I really do not want her penning more episodes than she already does.

Like others have said, Edlund will not have as much free reign with Revolution that he did with SPN. He had some crazy ideas, and he was actually able to write them, he won't be able to do that now. But, like someone else said, Edlund is also good at the emotional depth, and maybe he will be able to bring that to the table, because in many respects that is sorely missing. It will definitely be interesting to see what he brings to the table.

Kripke has poached a lot of people from SPN to Revolution. He took Lennertz, although Lennertz does still do music for SPN, but he has also taken some directors, most notably Sgriccia. I think he only directed one episode last year, which is unfortunate, because I really like him. I think it's cool about the actors from SPN being able to have work on Revolution, but the directors and writers, that's another story.

His humor and influence will definitely be missed.

And yeah, I only really liked two of Eugenie's episodes. I don't know... and I don't have much confidence in Edlund's replacements. The fact of the matter is though, that Edlund really is irreplaceable in my opinion.

So very very true. Edlund is irreplaceable. It is a sad time in the Supernatural universe. I just hope Edlund realizes and understands how much we love him and will miss him.
