Ugh, I hate it when I finally get to the scene that is the whole reason I am writing the fic - the scene that I've written in my head 100 times already and that I can't wait to get down on paper - the scene that's taken me 22,000+ words to get to and I FINALLY get to write it..... but it's 1:20am and I've been up since 8am, and I'm so tired, and I have to work tomorrow and I've already been writing for 4 hours...and... and...

...it's just going to have to wait until tomorrow AFTER I work all day at my real job. :(

THAT is an AWFUL feeling. I think sometimes our inspiration muses get bored and conspire to torture us, just because they can. But at least when you do get to it you'll be much happier and enjoy the writing more? And you get to look forward to it all day. Here, have a happy Dean icon to make you smile *points*

:) Thank you!

And yes, at least I'm eager to return to it and have something to reward myself with for working all day.

I really admire your restraint for not writing the `fun scene` first! You have a lot of dedication to get through 22000+ words first. (I`m struggling with the same thing at the moment and just want to skip to the end!)

I forbade myself from skipping to the fun bits years ago, when I realized that I never finished any story. I would ONLY write the fun bits and then never touch the files again to fill in the rest. :P

I also find it helpful to write the whole beginning first, because sometimes you realize there are problems with the fun scene that needs to be fixed so that they're even more awesome. I kind of treat the fun scene as the reward at the end (or near the end) of the maze that is the rest of the story... sometimes the more work it takes to get to that reward, the more satisfying that reward is. It's like staring at a brownie for three hours before finally letting yourself eat it.
