GISHWHES?

Hey lovely flist!

My friend K is doing GISHWHES again this year. She's trying to form her team, she has like-minded members already, but she still needs people.

She is not "In It To Win It." She just wants to have fun. She and the rest of her team all have jobs, husbands, children, etc...that take up a lot of their time, so although she wants to do her very best at GISHWHES, she knows that she's not going to end up staying in a Scottish castle with Misha. Basically, she's just in it to have fun with other fans! Or in her words:

"We will, of course, chat lots and do things that are fun; but we don't want to lose our jobs/children/self-respect by taking part :)"

Now, I know they round-out teams automatically if you don't know 15 people - but K is worried that if they do that, she might get put on a team with people who ARE "in it to win it" and they might get mad at her for not being able to devote her entire life to the challenge. Which makes sense - ambitious people should be on teams with ambitious people, and people who just want to have fun should be on teams that just want to have fun!

So, if any of you are interested in just having fun with GISHWHES and you don't currently in a team...and you might be interested in joining K's team, let me know and I'll put you in touch. K is an awesome person (I can vouch for this, because she lets me come over to her house whenever Supernatural is on and watch it on her big TV while I drink copious amounts of her wine.)

My friend M and I who live in the same town ended up on separate teams last year because they assigned them randomly, which is why I didn't sign up this year. Has that changed?

If so, I'll talk to M and see if she'd be interested because we both had a really fun time last year, working together even if we weren't on the same team. She's out of the country until Tuesday, though, so it'll have to wait until at least next Wednesday.

We are both very cool people and would be in it for the fun of it too. You can vouch for me, right? ;)

According to Misha it has indeed changed this year - and they have a new database that can handle teams and everything...so, we'll see? I mean, I can't make any promises of course, as I am not Misha Collins. :P

But yeah, you and M would be welcome additions to the team, I'm sure! I'll let K know that you're a possible 2, and you can talk to M and get back to me. I think sign-ups are in a week and a half? I'm not sure.

And yes, I can definitely vouch for you, no worries. ;)

Er...pardon my complete fail, but what IS this challenge thing? I've never heard of it before (and that's probably because I only started watching Supernatural, like, back in April of this year, so. XD).

I'm uncertain as to whether I'd like to participate, because I'm leery of my ability to write Supernatural fanfic at all, but still, I'm curious as to what you are all talking about. :)

No pardon necessary - I will explain:

GISHWHES (AKA: the Greatest Internet Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen) is a scavenger hunt that is run by Misha Collins and friends. He sends a list out of very very bizarre "items" worth different amounts of points, and everyone tries to get as many "items" and points as possible before the deadline... the team with the most points gets flown to Scotland this year to stay the night in a castle with Misha.

This is the second year that he's done it. Last year, he actually got the Guinness World Record for largest scavenger hunt - or something to that effect.

I put "items" in quotations - because the stuff on the scavenger hunt list are things like "make a dress using only bacon" or "perform a 30 second interpretive dance explaining evolution"... and those are the less bizarre ones.

Hi :) Agh, I'm very late for this but I haven't signed up for Gishwhes this year because I wanted to play the game like your friend K. Not to win, just to maybe do an item or two and enjoy it. Is she still looking for people for her team?

I do know that there are other teams like her's out there though! I'm sure even if you left it up to the luck of the draw, you'll find a cool team. If you are on twitter, you could always try tweeting SuperWiki and asking if anyone is still looking. I know they've been retweeting such requests recently.
