AO3 Invites?
May. 7th, 2012 07:31 pmOkay...so, AO3 has this nifty feature where you can download the fic directly from the site.
This would save me a lot of time with the demented'verse, since I've been emailing out the PDF on an individual basis at least once a month, and sometimes multiple times per week. As much as I really don't mind emailing out the pdfs, it DOES mean that not only do people have to disclose their email addresses to me, I have to disclose mine to them. Which, you know, on the one hand is kind of cool, since sometimes I have little conversations - while on the other hand...I don't know what the other hand is actually, I mean, I haven't encountered any psychos so far, but that doesn't mean that my luck will hold out?
Maybe I just thought maybe it'd be easier to store my fic on AO3?
Who knows what I'm thinking (I certainly don't).
ANYWAY...apparently you need an invite to get an AO3 account...now, I could put myself in their queue, but I could also just ask my flist:
Does anyone have an AO3 invite that they don't mind sending my way? Thanks
baruchan!
Sorry this post is so disjointed. I've just been writing and the character I was writing was sort of in a weird mental place and, being the empathetic person that I am, I can now not string a coherent sentence together.
P.S: Everyone enjoying those Jared on the beach photos today? I will admit that in a moment of weakness, I ignore my personal rule of not viewing paparazzi pics. The personal moral corruption was worth it.

YES. I have fluctuating personal moral values when it comes to pap pics, and this is one set of pics that I don't mind corrupting my morals for LOL

Date: 2012-05-08 02:52 am (UTC)I'm so glad you'll be posting your fic to AO3; once I started reading fic there, I fell in love with their system immediately. (It's also easier to download files to read on my phone, heh.)

Date: 2012-05-08 03:38 am (UTC)I've got the account set up now, and will probably look into copying my stories over tomorrow - I'll be posting here when it's all there. I may just move my favourite stories over. :P

Date: 2012-05-08 06:18 am (UTC)And I'm not just saying this because I recently got an ereader and am looking to fill it up with long fic, no. Of course not.

Date: 2012-05-08 06:25 am (UTC)I'm looking forward to exploring it. First things first is to get my fic over there.
All these features kind of make me want to get an ereader too.

Date: 2012-05-08 06:43 am (UTC)Mostly because of the fic. It's a great way to read long fics- a lot easier on the eyes, and it looks totally respectable also,in public. And I'm really digging the 3G connection. It makes for fairly limited browsing, but it works well enough to download stuff off AO3, and even read lj etc.
