I'm weird

I've written two posts in the past two days and then not posted them. The part of my brain that decides how personal I want this LJ to be seems to be broken.

Or maybe it's because I realized no one cares?

Anyway, yeah...I'm having a weird week inside my brain.

I should finish tidying up my apartment and then take some pictures.

For what it's worth, I think people do care. I certainly care, anyway. We don't know each other well, but I do consider you a friend.

Toeing the line when it comes to LJ is always tricky. My other, non-fandom LJ is a lot more personal in nature than [livejournal.com profile] ratherastory, and it helps me to keep a tighter lid on who knows what about me, even though I mostly don't lock that LJ either (except for work things). Post what you feel comfortable sharing, and if you're in doubt, then you're better off not posting.

Yeah...I mean, it's not so much that the stuff is personal, it's just that it's boring? Or, one post actually shares my opinion about something topical, and I don't really want to unnecessarily make people hate me because of it. On the one hand, I don't care if people hate me, but on the other hand, if it doesn't have to do with TV, why bother courting controversy?

I used to have a non-fandom LJ, but I stopped posting in it. I was thinking of maybe importing its entries to DW though...and then maybe this stuff would start to go over on DW? *shrug* I don't even know.

I also consider you a friend, so thank you! :)

I totally understand. You feel like you want to share things with someone, anyone, but then you think about what you would say and you start doubting your validity or play mind games with yourself and think no one else cares. We all feel that way at one time or another. I am always interesting in knowing what my friends are thinking or doing.

As to posting controversial stuff - I know exactly what you mean. I think about posting something and then think, ah I better not, it will just stir the pot and I don't want to do that, so I keep my mouth shut. Do what you feel comfortable. And you shouldn't really care what others think, only what we think of ourselves, but I know, easier said than done.

Take care. Can't wait to see pics of the new apartment.

Thanks, maybe I'll post the non-controversial entry...just because it actually may contain good advice to some people.

But yes, it's exactly as you described. I feel like chatting, but then I convince myself not to. :P

The apartment is coming along nicely! I'm hoping it gets sunny enough tomorrow to take some nice pictures of it :)

It's good to learn about successful non-standard hygiene regimens!

:)

I don't use soap on my face at all -- if I do it instantly dries out and then overoils itself.

I still do use soap on my armpits and one or two other areas, but hot water usually works for me.

Dr. Bronner's also comes in bar form and in many delicious smells, including Rose and Lavender.

I have superlong hair but I only shampoo it every three or four days. I use a boar bristle brush to carry the oil from the roots along the hair, and that works very work. Another non-standard trick is to use cornstarch to soak up the oil and then brush it out. Works pretty well but generates a lot of static!!

Do you wear make-up? If so, what do you use for make-up removal on your face? Do you just use water? I'm just wondering, because I might want to try not using soap on my face anymore, but I'm not sure what to do with the make-up situation (which, granted, I don't use every day, but must use occasionally).

Interesting about your hair too! I have super fine hair, and I find if I don't use a volumizing shampoo, then I'm doomed to look horrible...and I basically have to wash it every day if I want it to look it's best (I tend to wash it every other day though, and just look grubby for a day - my hair gets REALLY oily very fast.)

The only makeup I use is powder, and I do remove it with just a washcloth and hot water. My husband is a stage actor and when he has to wear stage makeup he removes it with Mary Kay remover -- it's very gentle and doesn't sting his enormous very sensitive eyes!

My hair is superfine and superlong. I've been growing it for over 25 years! I keep it in a braid normally, so I don't worry as much about volume.

I used to need to wash it every other day, but now I find it will go a little longer, or, sometimes I just wash my bangs as they get oiliest first! My hair care regime is to brush it every day with the boar bristles, never to use any blowdryers or curling irons, and just to wash it when it gets oily. I don't think I could get away with only using hot water on it, though my brother-in-law succeeded with that regimen.
