Firstly, check out this awesome Sherlock BBC Vid...it's friendship, not slash - and you all know how much I love friendship :)

I found an apartment for March 1st. It's exactly what I was looking for: A bachelor apartment with a good kitchen, and parking for my car. It's in a small apartment building, just at the foot of the hill that I currently live on. It's right near the skytrain and a large-chain grocery store.

The only draw backs are:
1. I will no longer have my beautiful mountain view...but that's okay, the mountains are still there (except when it's raining), this just means that I will actually have to go outside in order to see them.

2. It is floor to ceiling, wall to wall, wood paneling...but I'm thinking some nice wall hangings, and the gorgeous painting of my sister's that I own will help immensely with that.

The bonuses:
1. I actually have a wood burning fireplace in my bachelor apartment. The landlord insists that it's functional. I have no idea where one buys firewood in the big city, and I'm a little worried about when the last time the chimney was cleaned...but even if it's just aesthetics, it's still really cool.

2. It's cheaper rent than I'm currently paying to share with my sister. Also, it's utilities included, which I currently don't have either. And there is laundry in the building, so yay!

Anyway, yeah, I'm super jazzed.

:) I'm really happy with the place I found. I can't wait to move in, decorate, and then take pictures. Also, SO MUCH LESS STRESS now that I know where I'm living next month.

I'm not sure yet if I'll attempt a fire, but it's really neat to have the fireplace regardless.

Yesssss. Pictures. ALSO I watched that video. Very good! But mostly... GLORIOUS EARGASM. The music is wonderful.

(Fires are great. But definately check the chimney first. Smoke damage is NOT FUN)

Oh yes, I should have talked up the video more...it's fantastic music, and so well put together with the dialogue...neither seems to intrude too much on the other.

I'm also so grateful for the small, discrete BBC logo. Makes such a nice change from the annoying CW logo that likes to randomly spazz during Supernatural.

Oh man, yeah...not to mention the stupid additional advertisements that steal the bottom half of the screen unexpectedly during some tense moment. :P (*shakes head at American TV networks*)

I am thrilled you know where you're living. As someone involved in selling her current home and seeking a new one, I realize how comforting that is. However, I am curious: What is a bachelor apartment? That is not a term I hear in my part of the US.

A bachelor apartment is an apartment without a separate bedroom. So, you basically have one "great room" that houses kitchen, living area, bed (sometimes the bed takes up the entire living area...I've got a little more space than that in this one). And then a separate bathroom (of course).

I think sometimes people call them studio apartments.

I hope you are able to find a new house soon! I love house-hunting, but it's less stressful and more fun when you don't have a deadline. ;)

Thanks for your kind words. I find the selling more stressful than the finding!

Congrats on the new place! And a fireplace...I'm jealous. I haven't had one (well, a working one) forever.

But when I did, I would use both duraflame logs (and there's a kind that helps clean the chimney) and little wood packages from the hardware and grocery stores. They usually have them somewhere where if you don't need wood, you overlook them. Of course, if you're going to have a lot of fires, that will be too expensive, since it's usually $10 for one fire.

That's a good idea with the duraflame logs! Also, those burn down to nearly nothing, so I won't have to deal with the dirty ashy mess of real wood.

But yeah, fires of any sort will probably be kept to special occasions, if the chimney passes the smoke test. ;)

Yay! I knew you'd find something. :) It sounds really good. I would kill for a wood-burning fireplace. My dad had a wood stove in our old trailer when I was growing up, and that thing was so awesome.

Yeah, I love fireplaces. I think I'll try one of those chimney cleaning logs if I try it out. :)

Now I'm all impatient for the end of the month to come so that I can move in and start decorating!

This is such a coincidence, I tweeted about the vid yesterday! And yes, I do agree with you, it's really good. I'm a bit wary when it comes to seeing vids with instrumental songs, but this one just blows it out of the water.

Also, congrats for getting a great new apartment! :)

Ummm...yeah, that's not a coincidence. ;) Thanks for the rec! By the time I went to make this entry, it had been open in a tab for so long that I forgot where I originally got the link. :P
