MOAR CHARTS: This time SAM!

Ever wonder if Sam favours plaid when purchasing clothes? Well, wonder no longer....

We'll start off with a base of S1, so that you know what his wardrobe looked like before he started adding to it (please note: I'm only analyzing the "shirt" catagory - so this doesn't include hoodies and polos):

So, we know, when the series started out, that Sam actually had more striped shirts than plaid shirts.

Now, let's see in which direction he expands his wardrobe:


S4, I find interesting....does Sam's taste in clothing change when he's high?

Better sober up, Sammy....

That's more like it.

Interestingly enough, Sam's taste in clothes is not dependent upon a soul...

LOL 82% plaid in season 5. My theory is that the percentage of plaid in Sam's wardrobe correlates directly to how much self-loathing he currently has. Hence the abundance in season 5 - AND the lack thereof in season 4!

I love this! And I adore the theory of the plaid shirts correlating with Dean and self-loathing. Maybe with Dean around he's more likely to wear hunter-esque clothes?

I was going to come up with some theory about how Sam's relationship with Dean dictates what shirts he likes to wear, but...maybe he just lets his current mommy bff shorter snarky person with dark hair and leather jackets do the shopping for him and Ruby didn't like him in plaid?

I did charts for Dean too, but I'm not sure if I should post them. Charts get pretty ridiculous when you're dealing with extremely small numbers. :P

Off the top of my head I'd say Dean's shirts are 78% plaid and 22% muddy/dark plain. Maybe you should do color charts for him instead.

I actually did do colour charts for him. Dean owns very little plaid. It's mostly solid colours. The problem is that he has VERY few clothes. In the fifth season, he only had one new shirt. :P

Well, at least in the first season he does! This isn't a measure of how often he wears the items mind you - it's just a measure of what he has - but I'm sure the ratios would be about the same.
