If Clothes Could Talk: Unique T-Shirts

Unique T-Shirts (or Sam's T-Shirts)

I will not be counting the numerous white, shades of grey, or black, t-shirts that the boys constantly wear, because I’m sure they are like my friends and just go to a department store and by a bulk bag of 10 t-shirts that are all indiscernible from each other.

Back in S1, Sam had several unique T-shirt (both short and long-sleeved) that were recognizable. Slowly, they disappeared to be replaced with the numerous nondescript T-shirts in varying shades of grey, black, and white. There was also a notable change from crew-neck to v-neck (as Sam grew in muscle-mass). Below is the meager record of what were Sam's more unique T's...

One could assume that Sam got a little more experimental with buying his own clothes in college but went back to the family practice of buying generic t-shirts in bulk once he accepted that he was going to be back in hunting for good.

Yes, I think that makes a lot of sense. Sam's unique t-shirts dwindled down to one or two by S2 - and then the only notable change was that he started buying v-necks instead of crew-necks (which I don't blame him for, man's got a big neck!)

Wouldn't he have had to basically get complete new clothes after the pilot anyway? Their appartment burned down, I would guess so would his clothes.

Though, it also just occurred to me that he had his bag...where did he put his bag when he walked into the apartment? Dean could have easily grabbed it before the fire spread further than the bedroom...and Sam DID pack stuff in that bag, even though he wore the same clothes the whole weekend with Dean.

If he put the bag in the bedroom though, then it was probably lost along with the rest of his clothes...and would be a good reason as to why we never saw those wicked cool curved knives again.

I'm sorry, but I'm sitting here giggling madly about how well the icons match up with the discussion, and now Sam, Dean, and Jess (Barbie) are filling in the voices for the discussion which means Dean ends up talking to himself. You guys rock!!

This is awesome, I miss Sam's S1 clothes so much. I'm pretty sure the "Black and Grey Vanishing Logo T-Shirt" is the same as this coloured one from the Pilot (http://leavemethewhite.com//bellanut/caps/displayimage.php?album=53&pos=459). Looks to me like he has (or had) two of them.

Oh damn, you're right! That's what I get for assuming that Sam doesn't wear his pre-trip clothes more than once and not screencapping him in that scene. I'll make my own cap of it and edited this entry later. Thanks!

Let me know if you see any other place where my little clothing histories have gone awry - I certainly don't harbour any illusions of perfection, though I try my best. ;)

Oh, I hadn't meant that you had gone awry! Just wanted to point that out because I remember how nerdily excited I was to realize he had two of those shirts with a good full view from the pilot. If I remember right (I think it was this shirt), there are some times when you can see a logo (http://leavemethewhite.com//bellanut/caps/displayimage.php?album=53&pos=301), and when I googled for the shirt it turned out to be a popular California company, which I always thought was a cool like continuity detail given that Sam was at Stanford.

Haha, oh, well, in my head I'd gone awry - but yes, as you may be able to tell, these things make me nerdily excited too, so I appreciate you telling me about your previous research!

Does the shirt say "...finest beer" in that cap? Interesting...

And that's really cool that it's a california company! I wonder if that's just a fluke because they filmed the pilot in LA, or if it was a conscious thought.

Was that a S7 T-Shirt? I don't tend to add stuff until I get the DVDs in the fall. So, if it's a S7 T-shirt, you'll have to wait until fall 2012!
