LJ is being stupid and won't let me edit - so I can't fix the spelling mistakes I made in last night's post. Sigh. For the record, I do know how to spell, I was just excited and sleepy last night...

Anyway, as a little follow up - I emailed my dad to ask if he knew Ted. He does not. He went to a different high school, and also very grumbly informed me that his hometown was not THAT small and he doesn't know EVERYONE. Fine Dad, geez.

(I'll have you know that the total population of the town was between 70,000-90,000 in my dad's youth (and that was actually TWO towns put together, not just my dad's town), and the smaller ethnic community that my dad and Ted's first wife would have been a part of was around or less than 14,000...and there were only like, three high schools, so honestly...it's not like it was a huge metropolis....and why does my dad always get me so riled up just by speaking to me?)

Still, I think it's pretty neat that I ran into a guy the same age as my dad from the same hometown! And Ted was super nice.

Anyway...is it Friday yet? I'm super jazzed about the new season. :)

Hahaha, good point, I guess. The 14,000 is today's statistics, I'm not sure about the 1960s...but yeah, I suppose it IS a fair number of people, but I mean, I went to high school with 1,200 people. Doesn't mean that I knew them all, but I COULD have. :P

I think they SHOULD do a separate disc just for the gag reel. I would watch that! :)

And I... went to school with 400 and barely knew all of them. :D I guess it's just a matter of perspective; someone from a major city would consider the place where I went to college small, but someone from my hometown would consider it huge--why, it's got a *mall* and *three* Walmarts! ;)

Three Walmarts! Holy crow! That's at LEAST two Walmarts too many. :P

Canada has one tenth of the population of the US...but I guess we just have our cities further apart and fewer, not necessarily smaller. :P

:D Currently, the closest Walmart is 45 minutes away from my house, and the closest mall is an hour and a half away. Having lots of stores close by is convenient, but I don't miss city life.

Further apart and fewer actually makes sense, given Canada's geography, and possibly also its history--if, for example, there wasn't a need for towns to grow up every twenty miles or so to support a stage stop or trading post, or if people in those areas didn't stick around to ranch/farm once the railroad/highway passed them by. There might be towns in Canada with only one stoplight (or none), but you'd probably have to know where they are to get to them!

Yeah, there are plenty of towns with one stoplight...or one stop sign...or no stop sign and a "hidden intersection" sign :P

But it all depended on trade routes, of course, and in a lot of Canada that was dependent on water-access.

Ah, yes, that makes sense. And in this part of Texas, that wasn't as much of a concern; besides the fact that land routes didn't face many obstacles, the rivers aren't always navigable in the summer, especially if there's a bad drought (like this one).
