Does nobody care about Vancon Day 1, or did something happen with my update and it didn't appear on anyone's flists...because I posted it last night and I haven't gotten any comments. Not that I need comments for validation or anything, I'm just honestly curious as to whether or not people can actually SEE the report.

Thanks,
Me.

Also, Saturday and Sunday reports I'll try to get done on Monday night. Then a the location tour report will be typed up on Tuesday.

FYI: Jensen apparently carries a very large knife around with him for no apparent reason. I am not asking questions, but I would recommend NEVER MESSING WITH JENSEN.

And...Jared is still beautiful, and I got a hug! YAY!  I am very happy.

Did you have the 'date out of order' ticky ticked on that entry?

Nope. Should I? I be confused.

If it wasn't ticked, then your post should have shown up on flists. I do not recall seeing it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there.

i'm guessing it's like this: on the west coast, there's a Con. on the east coast (from like NC to ME) there was a hurricane... so no one was on line last night.

and i do know what you mean about comments: there's times where i post 3 or 4 entries and i get like 1 comment between them. there really are times when i feel like posting "Dear Flist, you suck at commenting, thanks." but i don't.

and - i don't post from friday night through sunday because no one's on line on the weekends as a general rule anyway.

I really don't care about the comments - it's just when I get absolutely NOTHING in 12 hours, I start to worry that only I can see the entry! :P

But yeah, you are right, in all my joy over VanCon, I completely forgot about the hurricane in the east. I hope everyone is ok.

believe you me, i worry the same thing - with all my posts some days.

i'm in PA, near Philly and Trenton NJ. i had minimal damage - power blipped out maybe twice, early sunday morning and then sunday afternoon. internet was out for a little bit sunday night. my work just got phone and internet back monday about 12:15 p.m.

a friend in DE is all good, but her work doesn't have power at all.

it's been an interesting weekend.

btw, from my own files: yesterday, August 29th, i posted three entries during the 3 p.m. hour. it's now over 24 hours later as i'm commenting to you (28ish, actually), and i have no idea if people even looked at two of 'em, as there's no comments on them.

:P

If it makes you feel better, I didn't look at them! Wait...I mean, it's not that I didn't WANT to. It's just that I've been CRAZY busy. So, yeah....um....awkward.

Usually I know when a post of mine isn't going to get much comment-traffic. I just figured a VanCon report would. And it turns out I was right, there was a mess up with the way I posted it and it didn't appear on anyone's flists.

LOL, i know what you mean. it's ok. one of the posts was about hurricane storms on other planets, yeah. the other one was about the last 6 Supernatural anime episodes. =)

but i made a comment that i'm surprised didn't earn me a "blasphemy!" comment. just... odd that no one said anything. unless that was my flist of three/four years ago. huh.

A Jared hug! Lucky.

Um, I don't see any posts from you in my flist between the one promising reports to come soon, and this one.

Let me know if you can see it if you click on my journal. I'll have to do the next ones differently, I guess. I thought I could make a private post public and just change the time, but apparently that doesn't work. :P

From: [identity profile] cordelia-gray.livejournal.com
Yes, I can see it I click back, it just doesn't show in my flist. I've had that happen too, I think you actually have to copy the post into a new one if you want it to show up.

From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
Good to know. I'll do that next time. :P

I've also been having a lot of trouble with the edit-entry feature. It's been super annoying. Anyway, I'll stop complaining now and get to work typing up notes or something....or maybe sleeping. :P

Date: 2011-08-29 07:00 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cordelia-gray.livejournal.com
Yeah I think LJ is still having some issues with the edit-entry thing :/

If I scroll back far enough, I can see your comm report in my flist - when you make it public, it posts at the date & time you originally made the entry. So it's there, but nobody sees it because it's buried in a bunch of older entries.

And I'm sorry about the ankle - how's it feeling now?

Date: 2011-08-29 07:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
I thought changing the date would fix that problem, but I guess I was wrong.

Hopefully they fix it soon - it's driving me nuts.

The ankle is doing much better today, thanks! I can walk like a normal person, and it only hurts a very little bit. The buising is quite gross and it's still swollen a little, but other than that it's fairly good! Mind you as I'm typing these words I'm getting a cramp in one of my foot muscles...sigh.

Date: 2011-08-29 07:09 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cordelia-gray.livejournal.com
I got stung on the ankle about 2 weeks ago, by a wasp. It got all swollen and red and itchy, which is normal, and then it blistered, which the ER doctor assured me is also normal. And then the blisters broke, and all-in-all it was one of grossest things ever. So I sympathize!

Anyway, keep icing the ankle, it really does help :)

ah-ha. no you can't do that. if you posted it friday night as private and then change it to public saturday night, it still thinks you posted it friday night, and will put it in that friday night slot on your friends flists.

whenever i make a private post to unlock later, i always copy the post and paste it into a new entry.

I was looking for your report and did not see the update. More importantly, hug! For how long and did Jared have a nice cologne on? Inquiring minds are desperate to know.

I carry around a moderately sized, multifunctional pocket knife for those situations where something needs to be screwed, trimmed or severed (e.g., have you tried opening some of those child-proof packages? More like "sealed for your frustration" packaging).

Actually I do carry one of those so called switzer knives (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3182/2553552960_8989b7d194_z.jpg) on my homekeys chain.

And if we speak of commenting... cinse creating my LJ in 2005 I recived 159 comments. I am not even sure that people read my Journal! Not that I write there to many things that need a comment, but still :(
So - CHEER & SMILE! If people comment, they do love you! ;)

Thanks :)

I was mostly concerned that people couldn't see the post!

And as I commented to dairygirl, this was no swiss-army knife...this was a scary switch-blade. The likes of which I didn't think you were allowed to own in Canada. :P

From: [identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com
Jensen apparently carries around a 7-inch switchblade. So...um, those must be SOME child-proof packages. :P

I didn't smell any strong cologne, but that's good, because I like people to smell like humans. He certainly didn't smell bad! He was extremely gentle, while I'm sure I squeezed him very thoroughly. It was only about 3 seconds, but well worth it! He is TAUT. Forget his ass, you could bounce a quarter off of any part of him. I felt like I was hugging a very warm marble statue.

Yes, don't mess with Texas I guess? Inflated rubber ducks are annoying and must be removed regardless of audience?

I agree no strong cologne is good. I'm one of those people who can smell someone who passed through the hallway ten minutes before because their smell lingered. (And try not to choke in his or her presence.) I just recall reading about how people raved how good Jensen smelled at one of the cons and wondered. Sounds like it was a great hug with a fine man.

I think the fact that he didn't smell bad, means that he smelled good. :) I also got a hug from Matt Cohen (no photo-op, just a hug), and he didn't smell bad either!

Um, I should amend that: I come from a culture of unarmed civilian city-dwellers. So, yeah, probably boys-from-the-country are always armed in some way. :P

I just fixed a spelling mistake in the recap too! Yay!

LOL I was just thinking that too. I've lived in more rural areas so they always have knives because you never know what you're gonna need it for.

Yeah, I was just thinking about Canadian gun laws and how farmers are allowed to have rifles and what not for coyotes...and yeah...given that there are actually coyote warnings pretty much in the heart of the city here, it actually makes sense that Jensen might arm himself. Still, I don't suggest messing with him. ;)

Yeah, every self-respecting male from the Southern US over the age of, like, 12 carries a knife. You should see what happens at one of my family reunions if something needs to be cut: suddenly there are two dozen knives of various sizes being pulled out of pockets all over the barn.

Yes, our family reunions are held in a barn. And yes, it smells like cow poo. Don't judge :)

Of course Jensen has a knife! I would bet Jared has at least one as well. They ARE both Texan....

My Daddy gave me my first knife at the very late age of 13, because I'm a girl. Most boys get theirs between 9 and 12.

I routinely carry a 6" one-handed linerlock.

It's both a Texan thing and a Country thing.

You know what - as someone who likes knives - I think that's pretty damn awesome!

When I was a kid, our family had butterfly knives...but then Canada outlawed them. Sad. Not that we routinely carried them around, but they were quite handy.
