Sam's Grey Polo



It’s unsurprising that a college boy would have a polo shirt. Sam’s is dark grey.

APPEARANCES:

In Skin (1x06), Sam wears it while he and Dean investigate the second murder through to the fight with the Shapeshifter.

In Hookman (1x07), Sam wears the polo for the entire episode.

In Asylum (1x10), Sam wears it from when he and Dean first investigate the asylum until after the main action is over. Sam is wearing a different shirt for the very final scene of the episode.

In Hell House (1x17), Sam wears it after the “second” murder (which is actually the first) through to meeting the Tulpa.

In Playthings (2x11), this may be the Polo that Sam changes into at the very end of the episode for the goodbye scene.

I really love these insights into the Winchester wardrobe. One little correction, though. I think that this shirt is actually a rugby shirt, not a polo. As I understand it a polo shirt has short sleeves, while a Rugby shirt has long sleeves. I used to a have a white Rugby shirt with a 2" green stripe, a 1" white space and a 2" purple stripe that would've looked great on Sam. It was even long enough to fit his long torso.

Hi!

Good point on the Rugby vs. Polos, but it might just be a mistake of the screen-cap I used - the grey collared shirt IS actually short-sleeved. It's the shirt he's wearing underneath (http://hells-half-acre.livejournal.com/109367.html) that has the long-sleeves.

Though, a question of curiosity: Do Rugby shirts NEED the stripe in order to be considered a Rugby shirt? Not that it matters, of course, again, I'm just curious.

It is dark and the ropes make it hard to see the details on the sleeves. It's possible that Sam's wearing a shirt underneath that is similar in color to the overshirt, so I stand corrected.

P.S. I think I've seen a solid colored Rugby shirts, although it's been years since I've shopped in a men's clothing department. The shirt I referred to belonged to my ex-husband and I stole it and another one (that I can't remember what it looked like) from him. LOL

Hmm, oh well. Rugby shirts are pretty awesome. I used to wear them too. I don't think I've ever seen one without a stripe, but I could be wrong. :P

Yeah, I could post a screencap to show you, but that would involve too much work (I'm horribly lazy this evening)...so next time you watch the episode, have a look at the fight-scene, you can easily see that it's the shirt underneath that is the long-sleeved one. There you go. No worries though - because of the way the rope intersects with the sleeve in the cap I used, it really does look like it might be a stripeless Rugby shirt.
