True, the way I understood the comment it was more like "why didn't Sam call him out on that - tell him how it really was and that he should stop being a whiny kid" But maybe that was said over at the reaction post on her journal and I'm melding these two conversations into one.
It's true though, everyone is the hero of their own story - therefore everyone thinks they have the hardest time until they have someone point out how much worse it could have been :-P
