I hate Mary Sues. I wrote myself as true to my own personality as possible - yeah, it was harder than fuckall, but I think I did good - and only changed a few minor details (I couldn't help but write myself as living the life I wish I'd had when I started the fic and I changed my last name to keep the stalking to a minimum). I kept my short hair (though it's bright pink in real life, I kept it to my natural light blonde in the story), my general level of klutziness, and the fact that I'm really not all that beautiful (I mean, I'm not horribly disfigured or anything, just not likely to ever turn heads without the aid of Hot Topic). I kept in as many of my faults as I could - like how I've still got scars from my cutting days in college (though I moved where they are - IRL, they're on my legs, in the story, I put them on my arms) and how I can out-cuss a sailor when the mood strikes. I also stayed as true to my general level of stubbornness as I could...

Yeah, all that makes it rather heavy on the me!bits of the tale to start out with, but when I finally get it done, everyone reading it will already know the boys - they don't know me.

I hope I manage to finish it before the end of this summer, but the more I work on it, the more ideas surface... Sigh. Maybe I should just finish out the first arc of my story and post it, then do a sequel? Hmm...the thought has merit...but that would mean I'd have to find some other title for now (I'd finally settled on 'White Rabbit', and have been using the song lyrics as chapter titles - the story itself is very much a retelling of 'Through the Looking Glass')...

Any ideas?
