I guess time will tell. You might have something with the redemption arc - though that's not possible in my view, they could still try it. If they parallel is Mary+Boys, they'd probably be explore Parenthood/parent-child-relationships in the villains, same as they're exploring in our heroes.
I think they're probably trying to save the birth until the finale - or the threat of the child, whatever it is, to the finale - since then we can end on a Lucifer Rising/Darkness Unleashed cliffy - and these questions might not be answered until next season, if they're answered at all!
