Yes, I discussed that briefly in a comment below - it COULD be explained away by saying that they used the weapon to smite Sodom and Gomarrah - and Lot's wife turned to salt because she was too close to the epicenter. So, it COULD still work if you believe that the target wasn't Lot's Wife, but the cities.. which I THINK makes more sense to the story, though, in truth my biblical knowledge is a little sketchy when it comes to some of the old-testament stuff.
