I have to admit, I liked this episode a lot more than I was expecting to. Looking at the promo/summary, I was bracing myself for a whole lot of second-hand embarassment awkward humor type stuff, and there was...if not none, then little enough that I don't remember it. So, yay!
Yeah, I don't know what they were expecting, for a more detailed description of the flowers...I can sometimes identify, like, lavendar vs roses? But...yeah, not a huge fan of floral scents so they're all just 'flowery' to me, too XD
Also loving how quickly Sam reads Dean and tries to figure out a different plan. I kind of fell like this season is a lot of what the Leverage writers call 'competence porn' for Sam...all the way from the beginning where he was kicking ass and taking names while down one arm, and then handling the Mark situation pretty much the best way possible...I'm loving it.
I agree that mac and cheese plush marshmallow fluff sounds icky, but then I'm super-picky about my mac and cheese, because the way my dad made it is one of my major comfort foods/favorites, and nothing else quite measures up XD. IDK, maybe it sounds good to some people? But I'm pretty sure you're right and Sam was just being diplomatic.
...see, now I'm overthinking the 'devil's asshole' joke, because Sam usually perceives Lucifer as Nick, but, like, could he see true-form stuff in the Cage? Or did he still just see Nick? Or, like, his own asshole, technically? ...I think way too much about vessels, sorry ^^;;
...now that you mention it, it is super-creepy that Dean/Tina/JP all got changed...
Also, I swear I started thinking Hansel and Gretel when there was cake and they took the male NPC first...because, at least the version I'm familiar with, the witch mainly wanted to eat Hansel and keep Gretel as a slave or something. And I turned out to be right, which made me inordinately pleased. I very rarely guess things right about where a storyline/arc is going. I'm still overly proud of myself for a Legend of Korra plot twist I guessed (I had, like, 80% of the details wrong, but I got the core of it!)
Agreed on how brilliantly done Dean turning up at the motel was. And I think this is where I figured I wasn't going to get the awkward/embarassed/whatever reaction I have to the other age-shifted!Dean episode.
And again totally agreed on all the stuff about how Dean staying de-aged could've been cool.
I totally forgot that Rowena had a potential plot besides whatever the hell she's doing with Crowley...
And, like you said, this episode did end on a really nice optimistic/happy note. I definitely enjoyed it a lot, despite my misgivings going in. ...also, I have totally forgotten what the promo for next week even was, so it can't have excited me too much...oh, well.
