Interesting! Though I had thought Crowley did know Gadreel was there, but is continuing to play Dean as part of a long game, IDK.
Hmmm, perhaps perhaps... his surprise, to me, seemed genuine, but then, Crowley IS a fairly decent actor, so you could be right.
...basically, I want a Rapture-style episode about him. Because this is like the first vessel we've gotten any real glimpse of since, like, Raphael 1.0. And I like vessel stories.
Yes! I agree completely. It's a shame that the vessel dies with the angel, because we'll never get this now. :(
...this probly says something awful about me, but Gadreel didn't actually lose sympathy for me here? Maybe 'cause he clearly wasn't happy, and I knew where his arc was going and he has to hit that low point before he can go over to the Bad Guy fully and build his way up to redemption...or maybe I just have a Thing for intimate death scenes--the only time Lucifer is sympathetic to me, for example, is when he's killing Gabriel, and I'm unreasonably attached to Gabe, so.
No, I completely agree. Also, I think it's also a matter of us wanting villains who are multifaceted - who can love deeply, yet still do THE BAD thing, who have the capacity for goodness, and are therefore all the more tragic for choosing the wrong path.
It's not about necrophilia, it's about saving the surviving cheerleaders from the monsters that ate their half-brother? It makes sense! ...ish!
True! I just assumed the cheerleaders were all dead, and there was no one to save - but it's also true that he may have picked ghouls because of Adam.
This makes demons wanting Jimmy back in S4 make much more sense, 'cause it's not about how vessels work, it's about Heaven's plans, b/c Jimmy saw via Cas, and if Jimmy can also access what Cas felt/thought about his orders...SO AWESOME.
Exactly, and it comes up later with Sam too - so we do know that vessels can at least feel enough to know whether the angel inside them is malicious or hateful or whatever. It's very fascinating.
Y'know, w/Sam/Dean being the Kit/Porsche of vessels and all the angels alive looking for vessels, why did no one try to consent them? Did angels actually learn from the Archangels/Zachariah that these two stubborn jackasses are more trouble than they're worth?
I sort of have it as my headcanon that it's more like you don't touch your brother's expensive car, you know? Like... "No, dude, that's Michael's car - he doesn't let anyone drive it but him!" "But Michael's gone!" "Maybe, but man, if he ever gets out of that cage and finds out what you did... I mean, you gotta be sure it's worth it." "No, no, you make a good point. I'll drive the Ford instead, I guess."
...my take on the deleted scene was slashy, but more Cas/Crowley...like, common ground again after all the teamups/betrayals/whatever since S6, b/c they both want&don't want to be human.
Very true. For some reason I never "go there" when it comes to Cas and Crowley - not sure why.
This makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE--espeicaly the thing Abaddon does to find him later...b/c a bloodline-tracking spell shouldn't work on a demon! The DNA in the blood would be the host's, right?!
YES! EXACTLY! And I'm kind of wondering if maybe the "human making" process of the final trial sort of... merges demon and vessel somehow? Which would explain Crowley's show of sentimentality towards his "son."
Anyway. Good episode! If, like you said, super heavy. I talk a lot on heavy episodes b/c they tend to be my favorites...sorry...
No worries! Obviously, I talked about it a lot too! ;)
