The kids book is about a train running through a park in Topeka. You know, it's kind of like The Little Engine that Could, or Tootle - a train that is "alive" and has human feelings. Kind of scary aye?
The train is mentioned in another of his novels, but the one I remember it from is The Dark Tower series, starting with The Gunslinger. It is actually a fantasy with a bit of horror mixed in. An awesome series. I would suggest it to anyone who likes Supernatural.
I didn't know they used Steven King references for Charlie - it's kind of neat that I actually recognized a reference :P
