My reaction after that episode: It was Dean who needed the mystery spot intervention with the Trickster.. not Sam. Sam can let go - though maybe that's partly because of that? Dean.. it's proving that Dean's the co-dependant one. Which maybe makes sense.. after all, Sam's the one who managed to make a break from the family and go to college.
