Prompt Meme
Jul. 6th, 2013 02:21 pmOkay, I saw
ratherastory and
claudiapriscus do this yesterday, and even though I'm kind of busy, I want to do it too!
Tell me about a story I haven't written, and I will give you 1-3 sentences (or more) from or about it.
Any of my fandoms are fair game...even ones that you know I like, but I've never actually written for before. Only, I won't write about Teen Wolf, because I haven't actually watched that show yet. You can also prompt for any of my 'verses if you like. ETA: You can also prompt for my original fic fantasy novel (for those of you who liked the drabbles I did of it back in April.)
In other news: I finished watching the first season of White Collar. It was good, and the actors are great, and I love the Peter/Neal/Elizabeth dynamic... but the show didn't really grab me when it comes right down to it. It was, however, GREAT to watch while sewing my new curtains, because it's the type of show that you don't actually have to pay that much attention to.
I may have given in and downloaded the first few episodes of Teen Wolf.... I haven't watched them yet. But just to give you an idea of how little I know about the actual show: I did not realize it was an hour-long drama. For some reason, I had it in my head that it was a half-hour program... like a dramatic sitcom or something? I have no idea why I thought that. Perhaps because the last teenage werewolf program I watched was Big Wolf on Campus. And for those of you who know what that is: Don't judge me! It was back in the age of dial-up internet and I wanted to understand the Tommy/Merton slash that I had found while looking for Dead Man on Campus slash (again, no judging allowed... I loved that movie.)
Now off to do errands... if anyone prompts, I'll most likely leave the responses until tonight or tomorrow. Tomorrow I have to clean my apartment, and writing tiny little fics instead would be a welcome distraction to that.

Looking forward to whatever you come up with!
Cheers and goodnight! :)

Date: 2013-07-06 10:52 pm (UTC)And thinking of silliness...
How about the Changing Channels show or commercial that, by mutual agreement, all involved (Dean, Sam, Gabriel...Cas?) pretended never happened?

Date: 2013-07-06 11:59 pm (UTC)SPN, Sherlock, Merlin - I've written in all of these.
Other than that, I've also been a big fan of Due South, Naruto (though I probably wouldn't be able to write anything coherent in it anymore), Avatar: The Last Airbender (Legend of Korra too, but I don't have as firm a grip on the characters), Leverage... Star Trek... Avengers?... Um... oh, Harry Potter....
That's probably it...
There's also my own original fic fantasy novel that I'm currently working on, I wrote a couple of drabbles of it back in April. People are allowed to prompt for that as well.
Good to know about White Collar! I'll probably give the second season a go, but I may scratch my Teen Wolf itch first. We'll see. :)

Date: 2013-07-07 10:23 am (UTC)And/or, original fantasy novel; Essya is not putting up with your bullshit.
AND/OR SPN AU; Jess doesn't die.
ALL THE STORIES!!
(oh and I just saw that you had Avengers with a question mark - write any Clint and/or Natasha (Hawkeye&Black Widow) story and I'll love you forever. :P I'M SORRY. I JUST LOVE HOW YOU WRITE.)

Date: 2013-07-07 08:10 pm (UTC)"That's not how you play, Dean!" a four-year old Sam bellowed, face turning red and blotchy.
"But it's my baby!" An equally four-year old Dean clutched the toy Impala to his chest, looking stricken and on the verge of tears.
He had already wrapped it in a soft blanket and started to sing it to sleep, before Sam realized that Dean wasn't going to join his game of smash'em-up-cars.
"Boys-" Gabriel tried to cut in, but it was too late, both boys erupted into tears. Gabriel snapped his fingers quicker than he ever had before.

Date: 2013-07-07 08:29 pm (UTC)"How the hell do I know? He said three days and it's only been two, so... tomorrow?"
"Is this what he was hunting? Maybe it doubled back, maybe he'll arrive soon."
"Maybe?"
"...I'm not sleeping in the same room as a corpse, Dean."
"We'll get some ice, put him in the bathtub. We'll put the do not disturb sign up for the maid."
"Why can't we get rid of him?"
"Dad has the car, Sam! And this thing weighs like, 200 pounds!"
"Can't we get another room?"
"And what, just leave the monster corpse behind? Should I just walk up to the front desk and say, 'There's a dead body in our room, totally nothing to do with us, but my delicate little brother refuses to sleep in the same room as a corpse, so do you mind giving us a different room? Sorry about the blood splatter."
"Dean..."
"Just... help me get some ice. We'll pull the shower curtain closed. You won't even know he's there."

Date: 2013-07-07 08:58 pm (UTC)The man turned to her, giving an insincere smile.
"I'm here to see Detective Inspector Gregory Lestrade," he replied.
"This way," Sally moved through the desks, knowing that he had fallen into step behind her. "And you are?" she asked, half turning.
"Mycroft Holmes," the man replied, as though the name should mean something. It didn't. Only... only there had been that bloke, the other day who had shown up at the crime scene - made comments... and he had also introduced himself as Holmes. Sally stole a glance behind her as they neared Lestrade's door - they didn't look much alike, yet there was that same posh condescension about them. The other Holmes had been open about it, but this one tried to hide it behind a creepy smile.
Sally gave a perfunctory knock on Lestrade's door, and then poked her head in. "There's a Mycroft Holmes here to see you, sir."
Lestrade narrowed his eyes, but before either of them could say anything more, Holmes was pushing the door open full and striding into the room like he owned it. Sally gave Lestrade a shrug and left. Greg would tell her about it after, he always did.
Only he didn't, and Sherlock started turning up more often... and Sally... well, those Holmes brothers gave Sally a bad feeling, and she had long learned to trust her gut when it came to things like this.
(PS: I don't actually think this is something that happened. In my headcanon, Mycroft and Sally haven't met yet... and Mycroft would certainly never pull strings to get Sherlock a job that Mycroft doesn't even approve of.)

Date: 2013-07-07 09:40 pm (UTC)They were by the lake, skipping stones over the frigid water and talking about their Christmas holidays.
"... and then Aunt Bernice threw a fit because apparently Gran should have left the antique writing desk to her and not Mum, and they had a big row about it - Gran was especially mad because she isn't even dead yet, and it was rude to talk about it at all, she said. So now I'm getting everything, because all I did was pass the gravy when she asked me to and stayed quiet otherwise, and so I'm her favourite now," Nate finished.
Teddy laughed. In comparison, his Christmas dinners had been boring - all three of them. Actually, they'd been overly loving this year, due to the Christmas card that Harry had gotten from America.
"Harry heard from the Winchesters again," Teddy said.
Nate paused in his search for something else to throw into the water and straightened up immediately.
"Oh?"
"Yeah, their uncle died, and he was the last family they had, so..." Teddy regretted bringing it up now.
"That's horrible. Is Sam okay?... I mean, Sam and Dean? Are Sam and Dean okay? Are they okay?"
Teddy looked at Nate in confusion. Nate stared back at him with wide-eyes, and Teddy watched as his friend slowly started to blush to the tips of his ears.
"Oh my god, you LIKE him," Teddy laughed. "You've got a crush on Sam!?"
"Shut-up! No, I don't!"
"How long? Since we met him? NATE! Have you fancied Sam since second year?! That's ADORABLE."
"He's handsome!" Nate defended, blush deepening, "and... big. Oh god." Nate buried his face in his hands.
"Big? Spare me the fantasies please," Teddy laughed. "I don't need to know."
"I didn't mean it like that! I just-"
"Does he know? I should tell him. You never know, maybe he has a thing for underage wizards, you could be missing out on an epic love story!"
"SHUT-UP, Teddy! I hate you so much right now!"
"Make me!" Teddy smiled. "I bet your kids would be cu-"
And that was the story of how Nate tackled Teddy into a nearly frozen lake, though they told Professor Macmillan that they'd simply lost their footing.

NATE IS MY FAVOURITE OC IN AND FAN FIC I HAVE EVER READ. I LOVE HIM. :D

Date: 2013-07-07 10:27 pm (UTC)Glad you liked it! I adore Nate too, of course - if I could figure out a good plot, he'd feature in my next demented story, because he's part of the set-up... but I have to wait until Supernatural does something that will tie in well with the demented'verse.
I may come back later and tackle one or two of your other requests... ;)

Date: 2013-07-07 10:44 pm (UTC)I'm glad you prompted for Essya too, since my mind has pretty much been consumed with the fantasy novel idea for the past few months - that being said, I'm trying to figure out if I already have a scene in my head that would satisfy the prompt or if I should think of a new one.

Date: 2013-07-08 12:30 am (UTC)The problem with being a sniper was that snipers could really only fire once. Twice if they were lucky. Three times would reveal their position and guarantee that they'd become a target themselves.
Clint had to chose his moment carefully.
It was ten to one on the floor with Natasha being the one, of course. Clint watched as one of her opponents picked up a mace and made as though to sneak up behind her while she was distracted by a knife fight. Who even has a mace?
"That's going to hurt," Clint winced in sympathy, not bothering to draw his bow. A moment later the mace was meeting the head of Natasha's knife wielding opponent, and the guy holding the mace had a stiletto buried in his chest. Not the shoe, though Clint thought that would have worked just as well.
Eight to one, and Clint saw his first target. There was an arrow embedded in the guy's chest before he had even finished drawing his gun or had a chance to order his men back so that he could get a clean shot. The men around him looked confused, distracted now from Natasha - good. That was one.
Six to one and this was taking a bit too long. He knew Natasha had said to make it look good, but she had made it work with less. This time he shot the one who was trying to flank her.
Five was a good number, three would be better. He took out one more, while Natasha finished off another - those were his three shots used. He was spotted just as Natasha collapsed onto the ground, injured somehow and unable to stand.
Clint stood up in a panic - clearly visible now - and ran. Behind him, he heard the leader give the kill order.
They caught up eventually. He waited around a corner and took them both out with two quick draws.
When he got back to Natasha, the leader was neatly hogtied and gagged. Natasha was sitting with her feet up on a nearby crate.
"I thought snipers were supposed to be patient," Natasha said by way of greeting.
"You were having too much fun," Clint replied.

Date: 2013-07-08 04:54 am (UTC)Well, we could always pretend that Mycroft was there to bully Lestrade into refusing Sherlock further access to crime scenes, right? :)
Otherwise, I really liked your comparison between the Holmes brothers:
There was that same posh condescension about them. The other Holmes had been open about it, but this one tried to hide it behind a creepy smile.
And how Lestrade's working relationship/friendship/whatever with Sherlock caused a riff between Lestrade and Sally.
So happy right now, thanks again!
*hugs*

Date: 2013-07-08 04:57 am (UTC)"Do you think what they say about us is true?" Dove asked. He lay on his stomach, his head turned away from where Essya was bathing his bloody leg.
"No," Essya answered.
"But what if they're right - what if we're evil, agents of the darkness...born from evil deeds, what would that mean?"
"It would mean that the humans are evil," Essya stated.
"I'm being serious," Dove pressed. "What if we're evil?"
"We aren't evil," Essya sighed. The gentle bathing stopped, and Dove heard her rustling around with her supplies.
"How many poisons did you brew today?"
"I'm an apothecary's assistant, nearly everything in this room could be used as a poison by someone who knew what they were doing."
"And the fact that you know that is supposed to put me at ease?" Dove propped himself up on his elbows and looked over his shoulder, and then he wished he hadn't, because Essya was glaring at him.
"I'm a healer!" Essya said, as she smacked a damp cloth down on Dove's torn up leg and held it down - Dove screamed. It BURNED.
"Have you even seen what he did to your leg?" Essya asked when Dove stopped whimpering. "What else were you supposed to do? Just sit there and take it?"
"He was just doing his job," Dove argued.
"And you were doing yours - and part of your job is to successfully escape. He was preventing that. You did nothing wrong," Essya finished in a milder tone.
"All right," Dove whispered, scrubbing at his face where a few tears had been shed. "I just-"
"Dove, you can't let those idiots get to you. They have no proof.'Because I said so' is not a valid scientific argument."
"But what proof do you have that they're wrong?"
"Books, Dove," Essya gestured to the shelf in the corner, which Dove knew was only a small fraction of the scientific and medical library that she had upstairs. "You could read them yourself, or you could just take my word for it, either way, we'll say the same thing. Besides, I hardly doubt you'd be bothering me with this ethical crisis if we were evil."
"So I'm not evil then?" Dove concluded.
"No, you aren't evil."
"Because you said so?" He smiled at Essya.
"Because I said so," Essya rolled her eyes, but then smiled at him - and it was a wicked smile, but Dove felt something relax in his chest at the sight of it.
