I just finished rewatching season 7 tonight, and I've been reading your recaps after each episode. (I started doing a complete rewatch from year 1 back in October.)
Rewatching season 6, I remember some frustration while viewing it live, but seen back-to-back it is actually pretty solid and is now one of my favorite seasons. Primarily because except for the Campbells, they kept the arcs consistent, particularly in what was going on with Cas they was hinted at from the beginning of the season but not fully revealed until almost the end. So well thought out...
Which is the exact opposite of season 7. Rewatching this year, I was so dissatisfied, much more than I remember being while it was airing. Your recaps pretty much cover the problems--dropping the ball on Sam's mental state until convenient (and it started off so riveting!), the waste of time on leviathan stuff that didn't go anywhere--there never was any big deal about the property at the coordinates Bobby gave them on his deathbed--and the bad taste of the Bobby's ghost plot after he got such a fantastic death episode...there just wan't long-term cohesion to the season.
That being said, I have to point out an error in last Thursday's episode--have you watched it yet?
Sam says he say the alpha vamp 5 years ago in Hoople, North Dakota--but actually that is where they found the girl Emily. The face-to-face with the alpha vamp was in Missoula, MT!!!
