EDIT: Now there are 2 people! This is actually a fun game. How many people can I offend by using a site for a purpose that it was not explicitly created for?

EDIT 2: I wonder if THIS is what it takes to actually get comments on AO3? :P ...also, I now have 2 Kudos and more hits than on some of my stories...so, it really is just a very small minority that I've pissed off. It's not like hid the fact that it was a meta rewatch, so people clicking on it are interested in meta.

EDIT 3: We are up to 3 people now! I've been "reported to AO3" and apparently I am "clogging up the site" with my "~thoughts on Sherlock~" that nobody cares about. This really is an interesting thing... Anyway, I've adjusted my summary to ask people NOT to leave me angry comments, and I've written directly to AO3 to find out if I actually AM in the wrong or not. I guess, if you wanted to use the handy download feature to get a copy of my Rewatch for your eReader, you should do it now! This will either get better, or it'll get worse. :P (In other news: I now have 4 Kudos and over 150 people have clicked on it.)

People get worked up about weird things... Besides, I've seen meta at AO3 before and I'm pretty sure it's allowed by the TOS.

It's funny, because I've also gotten 1 Kudos and 53 hits from people who DIDN'T feel the need to tell me to take my meta elsewhere...so, I'm not sure there are hard and fast rules about what you can and can't use AO3 for.

They have a tag for it! And I read their FAQ page and it didn't say anything about disallowing certain kinds of content...so, yeah, people are strange. I just commented back and said "Sorry...feel free not to read it." :P

No. Way. Seriously? That's...really silly, actually. I've read some amazing meta on AO3, actually. Someone wrote out a really cool guide to Dark Angel that I enjoyed(and I noticed a lot of things I missed while I was watching it), so I never imagined meta-y things were disliked.

But why the hell are they getting offended? AO3 IS the place for it. It's an archive. Not just of fic. Of ALL things created by fandom. That includes art, fic, AND meta.

I was thinking of posting my SPN timeline over there too...but yeah, am I going to get hate about that too? I'm thinking the hater is in the Sherlock fandom, so maybe the Supernatural fandom is nicer?

No, you totally should to it! Fuck the haters, I would bookmark the shit out of it; AO3 is an excellent host and they actually care about fandom and aren't gonna willy-nilly delete things.

I DID important to DW. I do a refresh import every month or so too. So the timeline is also over there. The problem is that the since I update the timeline by EDITING entries...they then don't import again! So the timeline there might be out-of-date.

So, yeah...that's an issue.

And yes, I really have no idea why that user was getting so worked up...or why she felt the need while schooling through the Sherlock tag to be like "WHAT?! META!! I'm going to go out of my way to tell this person that this is UNACCEPTABLE!!"

Anyway, now I'm thinking that I should post more meta over there just to spite 'em :P

Aw, that sucks. I have noticed it, though, myself; I edited my friends-only post and it still showed the old one, which was a pain. But at least if (god forbid) something happened to LJ you'd have something left.

It's like signs...people don't read them. They look at them, see what they want to see, and do what they want to do. (In your case, click on the meta.) Then they get mad because it's not what they wanted it to be, even though if they'd read what it was about in the first place, and get mad at you for not giving they what they expected, even if they would have known it wasn't what they were looking for if they'd paid any attention whatsoever.

Sorry for suggesting it! I wasn't sure about posting meta there (are there certain guidelines to put it under?) And perhaps they were looking for a different kind of meta and was severely disappointed? I thought it was an interesting read?

Since you are allowed to post pod fic, images etc...why not this? As far as I can tell, they only draw the line at really nasty stuff like glorifying child abuse etc...which is totally correct to do.

Yeah, I don't really understand people either. I try not to get to angry about things though, so I'm just shrugging my shoulders on this one. I'm interested to see if AO3 ever gets back to me about the issue though.
