Okay, so I rewatched A Study in Pink and I made notes...and I've spent the last three days typing up my notes and thoughts...[Poll #1848133]

Yeah, um...despite the length, don't expect anything fancy. It's just like my Supernatural rewatches...only, apparently because it's Sherlock, I am even more wordy than usual. My typical Supernatural rewatch is 4,000 words. So, if we were thinking 4,000 words per 42 minutes of airtime...then we'd end up with ~8,571 words...so, yeah, I'm definitely either picking this apart more or over explaining myself...or both, but either way...I've worked on this thing since Saturday, it's going up one way or another. It's just a question of how...so all suggestions welcome.

Also, if all the episodes take this long, then I'm only doing one of these per month.

dear hells, I am currently immersing myself in all things Sherlock and I'd love to hear your reactions.... I think smaller chunks will probably be easier to digest. Metas are like that!! :)

I love Sherlock and I love commentaries, so you have hit my buttons right here. Posting parts spread over days will make it easier for me to read the whole thing. I won't feel so overwhelmed all at once. But whatever works for you in the end.

Can you believe that I can't remember what option I've clicked 3 seconds after clicking it??? *facepalms*

Regardless, I think you should post this maybe over 2 days instead of a few? Split it into two, maybe using the natural pause in the episode? For example, you can post your reactions up until, say, after John's meeting with Mycroft, and then the next day you post the rest of it. Or, if you are writing the episode and the commentary separately, then you should just post them separately.

I guess I'm more or less suggesting that you should post it in two parts, maybe three the most, spread over two/three days. Because it gives me something to look forward to discussing it with you without me forgetting what is it I want to discuss :)

Well, it's a tight race, but so far posting it in chunks over a few days seems to be winning! And I'm liking that idea more and more.

It's 13,000 words before even getting to me adding my own thoughts to the commentary. So, I'm thinking that it'll probably come out in at least two posts with the pause after John meets Mycroft, like you suggest...but it might be three parts, we'll see.

But yeah, I'm thinking if it takes me 3 days to write, no one is going to sit down and read it all in one sitting anyway. :P

I'm actually surprised how neck-and-neck this poll is. Still, the "commenting majority" seems to want it the way you do, which I'm starting to agree with. Maybe I'll post the parts fairly close to each other or something...and try to please everyone. :P

That's what I'm thinking right now too...

The poll though is neck-and-neck, so I'm wondering if there's not some weird third solution that pleases everyone (though, perhaps it will equally likely annoy everyone.) Haha. Anyway, the "commenting majority" are so far of the same opinion as you, so that side is winning out. ;)

If you spread it over a few days, that will always give me something to read when I've read my flist... Also, if it was all at one time people might be TL;DR... PS you should try posting the meta on AO3 too?

You think? Do you think people outside of my flist would be interested in my particular brand of rambling?

I'm leaning towards spreading it out over three days too - I think all at once might be too intimidating to people. :P

I dunno but AO3 is much more friendly for searching for fandom works (specifically fanfic). Sometimes when I'm bored, I just go to a fandom tag and just scroll through the list of new works! I've personally only read a few meta (like omegaverse primer OTL) but I would ask someone who's been on AO3 for a long while like astolat? But if you did post it on AO3, I would do either one big post or split it up into parts.

Hmm, I'm not friends with anyone whose been on AO3 for a long time, I don't think. I could try posting it there though! I'd probably break it up into "chapters" and then people could choose whether they wanted to read the whole thing in one go or read it in chunks.

It's true that A03 has that handy download feature - and I know a lot of people refer to download long things onto eReaders for portability.

So...yeah, maybe I SHOULD post it over there! I've only ever used A03 for fic (like you, I go there and search the fandom tags for what's new and what's a "classic" ie: most read)...but I suppose there won't ever be a meta presence over there if people like me are hesitant to post it.

I wonder if I should put the Timeline over there too. I have a problem with it now on LJ - because I can't add anything to the S1-S5 timeline because I'm at my word-max for the post. (thankfully, I'll probably not have to add anything to it - I'm hoping.)
