Sherlock fic communities anyone?

Uh, the ONLY Sherlock-bbc community that I flisted (sherlockbbc) has gone on hiatus for the next month because of some wank or something (I seriously am not involved enough in any fandom to know what wank goes on, and I like it that way...)

My problem is that it's my ONLY source for Sherlock fic. And now I won't have any until May 6th...which, you know, might be alright. It's not like I've been reading a ton of Sherlock fic lately anyway...and it's only two weeks or something...

But, I probably shouldn't be putting all my eggs in one basket like this. So, does anyone know of other awesome fic communities for Sherlock? I like gen or John/Sherlock and nothing else. Suggestions welcome!

Bizarre, it's been doing that to me a lot lately. It's because you have a link in your comment. Next time, just leave it. If I reply, it'll unmark it as Spam.

Thanks for the suggestion though! I must admit, I don't know much about AO3, and this might give me the perfect excuse to become more familiar with it. :)

A03 is awesome because you can download fic in mobi/epub/pdf/html format for your computer or e-reader.

Unlike organizations on fanfiction.net you can also search through multiple fandoms using their tag system.

It's an interesting and useful website that you can also subscribe to if you have an account there.

Fic posted on the site are saved even if you delete an account (hence the Archive of Our Own name)

Yeah, there are people encouraging me to get my stuff over there - so I've been meaning to check it out. So far, the only time I've ever found myself on it, I've followed links from other places, read a story, and then left.

But I like the idea that it automatically makes your fic available for download...and cross fandom searching is a marvelous idea. :)

I joined the holmesia newsletter and 221b recs.

I also used the newly fixed LJ Archive tool to download the posts so if they do delete the comm, we can still access them (it also serves as a great search tool). it won't download comments though - that will only work if you own the journal.

I think there's another comm bbcsherlock that I followed, although the one that you mentioned is also the main one that I watch in LJ. Just read the post regarding the hiatus, no idea what goes on either. Thanks for the heads up!

I follow fuckyeahjohnlockfic (that's the exact name LOL) on tumblr for their recs, and they give grades too. As from the name, it's mostly johnlock, but I have come across some gen fics as well. Just click on the 'genre' section to see their recs.

There's also oatmealjumper on tumblr, but she's gone into indefinite hiatus. Bu her masterpost is still there and you can click on it.

There's anarmydoctor, also on tumblr (I guess you could see where I gl for Sherlock fics haha) and I'm not entirely sure if there's a masterlist, but people can leave questions in her 'ask' box for specific recs and she'll link it to them.

Of course, there's also AO3. :) Hope this helps!

I follow fuckyeahmerlinfanfic on tumblr, so yeah...I should have thought of seeing if there were bbc Sherlock fic tumblrs too. I'll look for the Johnlock one :)

I already follow anarmydoctor, though mostly for her copious amount of Martin Freeman pictures.

I guess I can't write any Sherlock fic until May 6th (not that I was planning to), because sherlockbbc is also the only place I post Sherlock fic. :P

I really do need to get onto AO3, it seems rather more dependable than anything else out there.

please don't depend only on sherlockbbc to post fic! As one alternative bbcsherlock is a primarily slash comm that's very active and with a few thousand members. Fic, art, vids, etc. posted there are picked up by the newsletter. Check the newsletter for other communities for discussion -- tumblr is inadequate for conversations.
