I’ll have to rewatch (tomorrow) and find what I missed. Though perhaps money and security are enough motivation when you’re in her line of work? She’s pretty morally ambiguous- there’s no indication that she has *any* idea what Moriarty’s plans are for the information and her profession doesn’t appear to be illegal, just… different.
Let me know if it's clearer to you on rewatch. I was thinking of rewatching tonight, but I might wait and do a proper rewatch of all 6 episodes later. Like I do with Supernatural.
OMG- I hadn’t made that connection AT ALL. I have this image, now, of Sherlock being super-protective. I suppose that’s there in the scene where the CIA guys are threatening to shoot John in the head… also, I can’t help but wonder if the US government should be offended by the portrayal there- clearly willing to murder a civilian (or two) to get information in a foreign country. Not a particularly nice message, there!
I'm a bit cynical when it comes to the American government, so personally, I don't really think it was a scandalous portrayal, but rather an accurate one...though, again, I'm extremely cynical when it comes to America.
As for Sherlock being super-protective. I can DEFINITELY see that. He's got ONE close friend. And, after all, we saw to what lengths he went to protect Irene, even though he'll never see her again.
Perhaps the Palace doesn’t have to pay its TV licence.
Hahaha, probably not! Though, if I were Kate, I'd probably give them full permission to use me in such a fashion - but then, I'm not exactly royal material ;)
Thinking about it now, again, there are so many other bits that stand out to me...
Same here! I love all the bits you mentioned, and more! It's why I'm thinking I might wait and do a proper rewatch - because then I can painstakingly go through and expound on exactly why those little moments are all brilliant and wonderful.
I also really liked how much time passed- how they brought us right up to New Years, which was really clever. Which year, of course, might be debateable, but it was really cleverly done.
I agree!! I think originally the first series was supposed to have taken place in 2012 - now it seems they scrapped all references to current years - which I like.
5am! My goodness! Get some sleep! It's 9:30pm here, and I just finished supper...now to finish my wine, and decide what if I'm going to do anything at all productive today, or if I'm just going to devote the rest of it to Sherlock as well...I'm leaning towards the latter. ;)
