Guys.......................

I was all excited for Sherlock series 2...they released two amusing clips - and they had nearly naked Sherlock and snarky John - and I was SO EXCITED.

Then they released 4 trailers...and...now I'm more anxious than excited. Guys...Moriarty is evil, and Sherlock hurts John's feelings sometimes...and....I mean, I KNOW what story they are ending this series on, and it's going to HORRIFICALLY painful.

I've been gleefully reading fanfic for the past year where Sherlock and John escape the pool cliffhanger and everything is sunshine and lollipops...but, the series isn't actually going to be sunshine and lollipops!

Remember that Friends episode when Joey kept putting a book in the freezer whenever it scared him? I'm kind of like that. I discovered that I couldn't read historical fiction, when a book I was reading got too intense (because I knew what was going to happen historically) and has now been sitting on my shelf for two years with a bookmark in it....taunting me.

Anyway...um...yeah...I have problems.

Okay, I have several friends now that watch this show and have made comments about it either on LJ or Twitter. So, they are in Season 2? Just starting, ending? And it plays on BBC when? I might have to DL past episodes and watch this show. I am now very intrigued.

Oh my goodness - it's brilliant!

It's not run like a typical TV show. "Season 1" (or series 1, as they say in the UK) is actually just 3 episodes long, each episode is 90 minutes. So, it's like 3 mini-movies. Series 2 is going to be the same - they'll air starting January 1st. (ETA: and yes, airing on the BBC)

So, in total, there will be 6 episodes, each 90 minutes long. (It's currently iffy as to whether they will do a series 3, as both actors careers have taken off since they did series 1 and they have very little time...also, the creators are the type that are more likely to end on an artistic high, rather than drag it out.)

I HIGHLY recommend it - even though it is currently making me nervous.

I'll check it out. Like I said, with all the comments I've seen lately, I am very curious. Thanks.

Oh man....I am glad I am not alone. If only we lived in the same place so that we could hold hands while we watched it...

Just a heads-up though - 1x02 isn't the best. 1x01 and 1x03 are amazing, but 1x02 kind of makes a dull middle for the sandwich of awesome.

I do the same thing with books. When I know something really really and will happen-usually because of the main character doing something I know they shouldn't-I take a break from reading the book. Sometimes I have yet to pick up the book again.

I've only read a few of the Sherlock Holmes stories, so I actually don't know much backstory. The only thing I'm worried about is that John will marry and the show will lose focus on Sherlock and Watson. But I think even if that does happen the focus will still be there.

Okay, so I just found these trailers and my excitement didn't decrease at all!!

Yes, that's exactly it...as soon as I know something bad will happen, or the main character does something stupid, I just...have to take a break...and the more invested I am the worse it is, and I'm pretty damn invested in Sherlock.

You don't have to worry about the focus going off Sherlock and Watson - they're the heart of the story...much like Sam and Dean, you can't really separate them for long. ;)

That's good! Moriarty just frightens me SO MUCH...kudos to the writing and Andrew Scott, I guess, but if I ever met the actor in person, I would probably scream and run away.

Haha, yeah...I'm similar with Mark Pellegrino too - though, not as bad as Andrew Scott. :P

I know! Someday, someone should write a "chaser" show for me, where everything is sunshine and lollipops.

I have a similar (though not the same) problem with a manga I read.

It's awesome. It's enjoyable. I love the characters. Its actually one of the very few ones geared for girls I read. But because, it is so great and I love those characters so much I got hugely overinvested in the romance options. And I support what I think is supposed to be the main couple

But there are a few teases here and there for different pairings. And there is one I totally couldn't stomach. I think the possiblity that the author would go there is very small but because it is a possiblity I haven't been able to read it further, because I'm so horribly afraid it is going to break my heart into itty bitty pieces.

so yeah...overinvestment not only in fiction, but getting weird hang ups through it? you are not alone!

Oh man, exactly...it's not that you don't like the series, it's just that you like it TOO MUCH and don't want anything bad to happen!

I absolutely love your icon, btw.

Anyway...we'll have to push through and figure out how to overcome our neurosis.

THIS.IS. ME.

I would literally stop the episode (if I've download it instead of livestreaming it) if I think the next scene is going to be too horrible for me to contemplate. And then I would surf around online, and then maybe around half an hour later when I've bolstered my courage enough, do I return to the episode LOL

I've been avoiding the spoilers and the clips, but I did see some spoiler pics from when they were filming. And from your descriptions I can't wait for it to return! I do know how they are going to end the series, though, and it fills me with both dread and excitement.

And yes, Sherlock can be cruel, but I think that's part of his charms. I'm just hoping that John would have enough patience to put up with him.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! *dances around in glee*

PS: I'm so happy there's one more person I could discuss Sherlock with in LJ! :)

I will DEFINITELY be discussing the episode. I didn't discuss when I watched the first series - but I have a feeling that I'll probably be doing massive "quick reaction" posts this time, like I do for Supernatural...just because I'm going to have so many FEELINGS.

and yes...that's what I do too when I'm watching stuff...pause, and get up the courage to continue! I'm glad I'm not the only one. :P
