Windows Movie Maker sucks.
Nov. 9th, 2011 02:28 pmI think I'm going to have to give up on the vid for now. WMM once again has decided that it doesn't like my files, and it won't open any of my vid files. So, unless I can make the entire vid in one sitting (which I can't), then it's pretty much useless to me.
I tried to look on the online forum for WMM, and it looks like someone else recently had this problem too - but it is unresolved. They suggested uninstalling and reinstalling WMM (which I did), but that didn't work. So, yeah...other than that, another forum suggested that it might be a driver issue - but I am not a computer-person. I really don't know how to go and fiddle around with all these things, nor do I want to. I kind of think programs should just DO WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO. (I guess I should have invested in a Mac.)
So, yeah...I'm super bummed. I really wanted to make this vid, but I just don't know how it's going to be possible if my program keeps crashing on me.
My other option, I suppose, is to spend money and get Sony Vegas or whatever that program is called. I would do that, only I'm kind of completely broke these days. So yeah...not sure what to do. I guess I'll just test WMM every couple of days and see if it's suddenly decided to start working.
ETA:
nwspaprtaxis to the rescue, by suggesting that I look into open-source software! ALL IS NOT LOST, it is just a little delayed while I research and learn new programs.

Date: 2011-11-09 10:33 pm (UTC)I'm sorry. This sucks. Is there any way you can see if there's a movie maker available open source for you to download?

Date: 2011-11-09 10:49 pm (UTC)I grew up using Windows too but when my laptop died and I needed to replace it, I went the Mac route.

Date: 2011-11-09 11:02 pm (UTC)I'll just have to figure out which option works best and teach myself to use it. At least I already have most of the episode clips that I need. :)

Date: 2011-11-10 03:52 am (UTC)And yes, you should have gone with a Mac. ;) I have a Mac and love it and will never go back to PC. We even have this program called iMovie, a program that looks like you can make vids with. I haven't tried it, but if I ever get an idea as to a vid to make I might try it out sometime. We'll see.
Good luck in your continued endeavors.

Date: 2011-11-10 05:41 am (UTC)Hopefully a new program will work better. If not, I may cry. Actually, I may cry anyway, because I'm having a bad week, but at least I'll be able to make a video while doing so. :P

Date: 2011-11-10 06:02 am (UTC)I also have a ist of things to buy when I have the money. It's a very very long list. Maybe someday I'll be able to cross some things off of that list and actually buy some of them. **fingers crossed**
I'm sorry to hear you are having a bad week. And yes, computer problems always tend to exacerbate those problems. Even though they are not at the root of everything, they certainly do stockpile it all and make everything that much more difficult. We are now on the downslide to the week, so here's hoping as we draw this week to an end, that it will start getting better for you. Take care!
