Yes, there was outrage then. IIRC It kind of was pale in comparison though, because while icky, it didn't quite go as far.
But if you want a good example, the guest recapper over at TWOP (whose recaps were extremely positive on the most part and who was awesome) wrote a recap that was a mix of consternation, confusion, and horror.
