Yeah, I like the funner episodes too. It's alright if there is a small undercurrent of angst, of course, but it's also nice just to laugh. I find the best shows are the ones that can meld angst and comedy the best.
I'm not sure if they adlib (or HAVE to haha) every episode - I think it's just on occasion, when they think of a line that is funny. I know that they'll do a take the way it's scripted, and then do a take with the adlib line so that the director/producers can choose.
