This is the second time I've had to do the notes for this rewatch, because my computer hung and I lost all my earlier notes. So, now I'm doing the notes while I do the clothing catalogue...so, we'll see if I notice more or less...or I will, since I'm the only one who might remember what my notes looked like before. I've also had a couple glasses of wine and eaten a whole pizza...

I love the teaser into this episode - it is so cheesy. I love how blatant they are about making fun of Twilight. It must have been fun for the actors "Be over the top!" That's the only way you could get me to act - "Act badly!" "Done and done" :)

"So, your place, is there a lot of velvet?"
"Yeah, sure."

I also love how suddenly when they get to the alley, the cheese is gone - the guy's voice sounds different. It's like we've gone from Twilight into Supernatural - which, I suppose we have!

I hate vampires, I really do - one of the things I love about Supernatural is that if there's a vampire, it's most likely going to be dead by the end of the episode (Lenore excluded, except that one time, which we'll get to many episodes from now.) I suppose I've just never been able to romanticize that particular monster. It's funny, because werewolves, I love, but vampires turn my stomach.

This is a VERY rapey episode - but I guess, given the subject matter, that makes sense.

If Dean and Lisa ever had kids, they would be very adorable befreckled kids.

"What is he so bummed out about?"
-Haha, this is what I would like to know too. I guess I'm passed my years of finding depression attractive.

"Look at this. He's watching her sleep. How is that not rapey?"
-[livejournal.com profile] missyjack did this great meta about the male gaze in Supernatural. This line reminds me of it now.

"This thing is a national bestseller - how is that possible?"
- This is also what I would like to know. I have a friend who loves the Twilight series - and I try not to judge her on it, I do, but....really?

"Hey, try, uh, Lautner"
"Wait, he's a werewolf - how do you even know who that is?"

- How do YOU know it Sam? I guess there's not much to do when you can't sleep at night...

I gave blood for the first time the other week. It was easy and fun. It's amazing how much blood can come out of you and you don't even feel it. Hopefully I'll save some people...and not feed vampires. I hate vampires.

The alley they used for the motel parking lot, and the alley that the vampires attack in, is the same alley...you can actually see the motel parking lot in one of the wide-shots of the vampire lair (which is hilarious). It also happens to be outside the office building that my sister works in. She works in this beautiful stone building that was built between 1915 and 1921 sometime. It's gorgeous on the inside - all marble and brass. You can see it one of the shots too.

"When was the last time we had a beer together anyway?"
-Aww, Dean, you are breaking my heart...because you still miss Sam, even though he's supposedly right beside you, and you haven't figured out WHY yet.

"Great three of them, two of us."
*Dude kisses other dude*
"'k, make that two of them."

- Yay diversity! I love it when shows actually have non-stereotypical gay people on them. Not that there is anything wrong with stereotypical gay people, mind you...I know a few of them, and they are good dudes.

If the guy you are following in the club goes into a storage room, he is most likely the vampire you are looking for...either that, or he's gay and knows you are following...

I love Bamf!Sam, even if he's soulless.

"What are you twelve? Are you wearing glitter?"
"I only do it to get laid, man"
"Does it work? I'll be damned. Alright, mmbop your way out of here, go go! And use a condom!"

-I love how Dean is still in father-mode really.

"You look pretty."
"I'm sorry?"
"I said, you look pretty."
"Sorry again, pal, I don't play for your team."

-Again, REALLY rapey episode. Here Dean is sexually assaulted yet again. I really need to write that meta on male sexual-assault in Supernatural. It's all over the place and no one ever seems to notice.

"Newsflash Mr. Wizard, vampires pee."
-It's what makes them almost human, but not quite.

Aww, Dean is being rapey too. Actually, I cut him slack for the watching-people-sleep thing...I kind of like doing that myself...and yes, I realize that makes me creepy, but people look so peaceful when they are sleeping. Also, they aren't talking, so you are free to romanticize them all you want in your head.

"What's going on?"
"It doesn't matter, but I need you to know - you and Ben - just, uh, thanks, ok? For everything."

- Dean keeps trying to leave Lisa.

"Lisa, I can't bring this crap home to you."
"You're talking about your work."
"I'm talking about my life. It's ugly and it's violent, and I'm going to die, soon."

- Dean has a point. The reason Lisa and Ben appealed to him is because they were separate from hunting - they were unspoiled, untainted by it. If Dean continues to hunt and then comes home to them - inevitably they'll be less separate from hunting, less ignorant, less untainted by it....they'll lose that quality which so attracted Dean in the first place.

I apparently should not have children...because I don't think Dean pushing Ben is that bad! I mean, yeah, a LITTLE uncalled for, but it's obvious that there's something wrong with Dean, and the kid defied a direct order to stay where he was, and....oh man, I think I might be John Winchester. Yeah, I guess I definitely should not have children. I suppose it's just as well that I'm horrible at romance and have basically lost my sex-drive anyway.

For those interested in clothing trivia - Dean wears the same shirt to visit Lisa as he did the very first time he visited her way back in S3. It was also the first appearance of that shirt. I would rename it the Lisa-Shirt, but it's made a lot of different appearances between these occasions - though, he HAS worn it to her house 3 times now...which is pretty impressive.

"Or I could just turn you back"
"What?"
"What?"

-Sam's delayed 'what?'; Grampa's turn of confusion...oh Sam, you are a bad liar even soulless. This is why I didn't have THAT hard a time believing that Sam would be a bad actor in the French Mistake...but we'll get to that.

"Cure's an old campbell recipe, like the soup..."
-Haha, soup joke.

"Good luck, son"
-See, sometimes Samuel doesn't seem that bad. Sometimes I really wish he could have met his grandsons under different circumstances - could have met them when he wasn't desperate to save his little girl, and wasn't running around with a soulless version of his grandson that gave him the wrong impression...but hey, I guess you can't have everything.

"You serious? You think I'd do something like that? Risk my own brother? What's wrong with you? Look, I'm just relieved we can fix him."
-Soulless!Sam is very good at deflecting - turning it back around on his accuser. Nevermind that Samuel is on the money with this, and Soulless!Sam.still isn't that good of a liar.

"I'm ok. I killed so many people on the way over here."
-I love this line.

"Don't worry about them, they're jealous - the recruiters get to bang all the chicks."
-So rapey.

"You want the private tour, don't you?"
"Thought you'd never ask."

-This is played so well - menacing, yet sincere, and then Dean is repulsed and sickened, but playing along....and man, did I mention how rapey this episode was?

The recruitment vision is cool. I know someone on my flist was wondering why we never found out who the wins were - but I think they failed to realize that the vision is all symbols. Like dream-interpreting. The little daughter represents the Alpha's children, she feed blood to her doll and creates a copy of herself - then he sends her out into the world to get more. It's a request for recruitment.

I love Dean's vampire-killing rampage. I mean, I hate vampires...and I sure as hell hate rapey-vampires...and Dean totally agrees with me.

"Looks like your brother has some Campbell in him after all"
-So, all my somewhat warming to Samuel that occurred earlier in this episode always disappears with this line - because Dean doesn't have Campbell in him, he's a Mother F*cking Winchester and that's it. Winchesters forever. I'm not denying his matrilineal line, but there were no Campbells that came to help John when Mary died. Dean's a Winchester, and a Singer, and that's that.

"l'chiam"
-I love it when Dean's Jewishness comes out. ;) Also, I love that he toasts "to life" when he is technically dead and drinking a potion that will restore him to life.

"At least you got my back. No matter what happens, I can always count on you, right Sammy?"
"Yeah, 'course Dean."

-Oh Sam, again, even soulless, you are such a bad liar. Kudos to Jared really, for being able to portray fake emotion so well. Basically, he's acting like he is acting, and that's pretty amazing. I think Jared often gets a bit overlooked, because he's so subtle in everything he does, but man, he just blew me away in S6.

Ok, that's that for this episode. It doesn't feel like as much as I normally say - but it's hard when I'm doing the clothing at the same time too - because I get distracted.

In completely unrelated news: I was watching my friend's Undeclared DVDs. Do any of you remember Undeclared? It was a short lived sitcom by Judd Apatow starring Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen? Anyway...Tom Welling was in the very first episode, and according to the commentary it was his first gig ever as a professional actor! ..and then he got the Superman part 2 weeks later. He is so very young and pretty in it. Also, Loudon Wainwright played the Dad! I didn't even realize that back when I watched...I'm a fan of his son, Rufus. Anyway, it was cool to watch while I drank wine and ate pizza.
