I was in tears a little writing it too...and I'm really glad Draco managed to sneak in a hopeful ending for me, because I was really concerned that it would end up being far too depressing! But yes, part of me kind of wants to forget my canon-adhering ways and just go AU with BAMF Potter-crew busting Sam out of the hole...but...yeah...I think for now I'll just leave it like this, and we can use our imaginations in whichever way we choose ;)
I'm glad you liked the scene with Harry watching Sam comfort Albus! I wish I had artistic skills, because I really wanted to draw that...I had to try to use words instead.
And yes, I think both this fic, and my "Sam Is..." fic, is basically just me as a fan trying to cope with the loss of Sam.
