I was packing for my trip (going home to Ontario until VanCon) and I noticed that I was fitting the classic stereotype of the girl who is packing too many pairs of shoes...but then I looked at the shoes:

And somehow, I don't think they're what most people have in mind when they make that joke.

(I will actually be WEARING one of those pairs, so they aren't all going in the suitcase. I might wear the sketchers, since I'm not sure if they are making people take off their shoes at airport security in Canada now too.)

For those who are interested (I don't know why you would be): Cloakwise from Sandals...

1.Sandals (self-explanatory, it's summer)
2. Scruffy work-shoes (I'll be helping my brother with some home-repair, so I need shoes that I don't care about. I feel like I should point out though, that those work-shoes have been to 3 continents! Those in the Sherlock fandom might get a kick out of that fact...I'm a dork)
3. Sketchers (these are good city-shoes, for when there isn't much walking involved - or when you don't want to deal with laces).
4. "Day-hikers" (These are waterproof and crazy comfortable - great for Vancouver. They are my most expensive pair of shoes, with a retail value of $200. I got them half-off though.)

Of course, the sad thing is that I actually DO have a wedding to go to while I'm in Ontario, and I very obviously do not have appropriate shoes for such an occasion...so, I'll have to go shopping while I'm there. I hate shopping for fancy-shoes though, because I can't walk in heels.

Now of course, I've done a whole LJ post solely about my glorious shoe collection...so, does that make me a stereotypical girl? :P

ETA: Is there a VanCon attendee that's a size 8? I have this really cute blue skirt that's never going to fit me again...

I love your shoes. Mostly because your shoes are *exactly* like mine... I don't own any really "dressy" or professional shoes. Mostly I live in sneakers or boots like your work shoes... *facepalms* We need to find ourselves some Winchesters who can appreciate such footwear.

I agree. Screw making my ass and calves look good - people should look for practicality in a girl.

I have two pairs of "dressy" shoes - both low-heel and black (one sandally, one closed-toe). They won't do for the wedding though.

I love my day-hikers because they remind me of Dean's boots. ;P

I'm so with you... screw my ass and calves looking good. And give me my jeans and trekking boots any day. And, really, practicality is more important. Also? I love my boots for the same reason. Even though they look like boots Dean would've worn when he was like ten.

Hahah this reminds me of this time I was trying on some crazycool shoes in a shoeshop once and this guy was basically saying "buy them! What's another pair of shoes going to do really?" and I said something along the lines of "I don't need new shoes" so he asked me how many pairs of shoes I owned and I thought for a moment and then said "6 including slippers" and he looked at me like I was mad. :D

(I actually conuted how many shoes I had once I got home and got 8 including slippers so I was pretty close.)

No kidding...in my packing it's all jeans. I had to remind myself to unearth my skirts, because I'm going to a hippie music-festival while I'm there.

Yeah, you should see the looks I get when I go in to buy shoes and the sales-person realizes that I'm wearing hiking socks. Once you go hiking-sock, you never go back!

I think I actually do only have 6 pairs of shoes (7 including slippers). Maybe 8, but probably the 8th pair is a pair that I haven't worn for years, and might still be at my mum's place in Ontario. :P

We should never move in together... we'd be absolutely hopeless on the fashion front. When I got my bookstore gig, I had to buy khaki / chino pants because they had a no-jeans rule (but aside from no jeans, it's super relaxed)... *facepalms*

yeah, I'm worried about getting to the interview stage for jobs now. I'm going to have to dig up my slacks and see if they still fit or whether they are moth-eaten. :P

Hahah I take your hiking socks and raise you my robot socks! I love my robot socks.

OK so if we're doing that I have a couple more. I think my old schools shoes are still at home home. And I still have my old converse (sentimental value) and a pair of black heels for some reason.

I appreciate that you have comfortable/practical shoes. (I'm like that too. *s*)

I quit wearing heels a long time ago; I have dress flats. Summer is a good time to find really cute flats that work for fancy occasions.

Yeah, I'm hoping to find some dress flats for this wedding I'm going to. 'Tis the season for them!

Comfortable shoes are the best! :)

And there's nothing wrong with that :P I'm sure if I had more cause to wear them, I'd have more shoes too - but as it is, I usually really do have to wait until someone invites me to their wedding. :P

I don't think you get to fit the stereotype based on the fact that those are practical and everyday wearable shoes. lol

Oh yay, I knew I liked you, and now there is confirmation!

You're my type of shoe-addict, let me tell ya :-D And yay for the ecco-shoes! Great brand, my last pair lasted nearly 10 years!

I have a few good shoes, most of which I inherited from my mother (who is a TRUE addict), but mostly what I possess are hiking-boots. I have one for sturdy work - or crawling up a mountain, whatever comes up - one for sturdy work and mountain-crawling that involves either snow or really wet weather (those Canadian-boots, with the gummy-foot-cover), one pair for mostly dry weather (not waterproof anymore), one pair for a bit of rain (still waterproof to some extend) and three pairs of hiking-sandals.

I feel like some genes got wired wrong with me, because my shoe addiction only focuses on hiking-boots :(

(which might be why I always notice that Jensen is STILL wearing the same kind of boots he already wore since s4!)

Hiking shoes are awesome. I don't necessarily even use them that much for hiking. I do a lot of walking - and it's nice to know that when some weird occasion does come up where I have to climb something, or go through weird terrain, I've got good shoes on.

Jensen's boots are getting pretty scruffy, but they are obviously good boots to last that long!!

I'm glad your eccos lasted for 10 years! I hope I'm that lucky. I tend to be pretty hard on shoes, but I've got high hopes that these will be tough enough to last more than a year and a half (which is usually my record for shoes).

Hiking sandals?! Interesting...you're hiking-shoe collection obviously surpasses mine! ;)
