Fitting a stereotype...or am I?
Jul. 10th, 2011 02:02 pmI was packing for my trip (going home to Ontario until VanCon) and I noticed that I was fitting the classic stereotype of the girl who is packing too many pairs of shoes...but then I looked at the shoes:

And somehow, I don't think they're what most people have in mind when they make that joke.
(I will actually be WEARING one of those pairs, so they aren't all going in the suitcase. I might wear the sketchers, since I'm not sure if they are making people take off their shoes at airport security in Canada now too.)
For those who are interested (I don't know why you would be): Cloakwise from Sandals...
1.Sandals (self-explanatory, it's summer)

1.Sandals (self-explanatory, it's summer)
2. Scruffy work-shoes (I'll be helping my brother with some home-repair, so I need shoes that I don't care about. I feel like I should point out though, that those work-shoes have been to 3 continents! Those in the Sherlock fandom might get a kick out of that fact...I'm a dork)
3. Sketchers (these are good city-shoes, for when there isn't much walking involved - or when you don't want to deal with laces).
4. "Day-hikers" (These are waterproof and crazy comfortable - great for Vancouver. They are my most expensive pair of shoes, with a retail value of $200. I got them half-off though.)
Of course, the sad thing is that I actually DO have a wedding to go to while I'm in Ontario, and I very obviously do not have appropriate shoes for such an occasion...so, I'll have to go shopping while I'm there. I hate shopping for fancy-shoes though, because I can't walk in heels.
Now of course, I've done a whole LJ post solely about my glorious shoe collection...so, does that make me a stereotypical girl? :P
ETA: Is there a VanCon attendee that's a size 8? I have this really cute blue skirt that's never going to fit me again...

Date: 2011-07-10 09:53 pm (UTC)I agree. Screw making my ass and calves look good - people should look for practicality in a girl.
I have two pairs of "dressy" shoes - both low-heel and black (one sandally, one closed-toe). They won't do for the wedding though.
I love my day-hikers because they remind me of Dean's boots. ;P

Date: 2011-07-10 10:06 pm (UTC)I think I actually do only have 6 pairs of shoes (7 including slippers). Maybe 8, but probably the 8th pair is a pair that I haven't worn for years, and might still be at my mum's place in Ontario. :P

Date: 2011-07-11 03:00 am (UTC)I quit wearing heels a long time ago; I have dress flats. Summer is a good time to find really cute flats that work for fancy occasions.

Date: 2011-07-14 04:22 pm (UTC)You're my type of shoe-addict, let me tell ya :-D And yay for the ecco-shoes! Great brand, my last pair lasted nearly 10 years!
I have a few good shoes, most of which I inherited from my mother (who is a TRUE addict), but mostly what I possess are hiking-boots. I have one for sturdy work - or crawling up a mountain, whatever comes up - one for sturdy work and mountain-crawling that involves either snow or really wet weather (those Canadian-boots, with the gummy-foot-cover), one pair for mostly dry weather (not waterproof anymore), one pair for a bit of rain (still waterproof to some extend) and three pairs of hiking-sandals.
I feel like some genes got wired wrong with me, because my shoe addiction only focuses on hiking-boots :(
(which might be why I always notice that Jensen is STILL wearing the same kind of boots he already wore since s4!)

Date: 2011-07-14 05:35 pm (UTC)Jensen's boots are getting pretty scruffy, but they are obviously good boots to last that long!!
I'm glad your eccos lasted for 10 years! I hope I'm that lucky. I tend to be pretty hard on shoes, but I've got high hopes that these will be tough enough to last more than a year and a half (which is usually my record for shoes).
Hiking sandals?! Interesting...you're hiking-shoe collection obviously surpasses mine! ;)
