I like sayings...so, I say stuff like "Where have you been? I've been searching all over hell's half acre for you!" When I was trying to think of a name for the space on the internet that I would devote to my Supernatural fangirling, it just made a lot of sense to call that virtual space "hells_half_acre." I mean, you are referencing a "space" with the word "hell", it's pretty perfect.

Ironically, at the time I made the account, I was actually living on a half-acre of land in Ontario. I'm not anymore, but it was kind of a neat coincidence.

The title of my journal, "Many a Vanished Scene", however, comes from a poem called "The Fire of Driftwood" by Longfellow. Specifically, these lines:

We spake of many a vanished scene,
Of what we once had thought and said,
Of what had been, and might have been,
And who was changed, and who was dead;

And all that fills the hearts of friends,
When first they feel, with secret pain,
Their lives thenceforth have separate ends,
And never can be one again;

Because, damn...I love those lines.

The stanza with the words "many a vanished scene" sounds like what we do with fanfiction too, in a way. We talk indirectly of what has been, and what might have been, and how characters have changed, and those characters that are dead....using many a "vanished" scene. So, yeah, I thought it quite fitting, though perhaps no one gets the reference.
