Back when I did my end of year meme, I was flummoxed by the Books I've Read question - I looked at my bookshelf, and realized that I hadn't finished any of those books this year...and I looked at the stack of books at the end of my bed, and those too, hadn't been finished in 2010...

And I thought "Did I not read any books at all? I guess not..." and I was extremely disappointed with myself.

But, guys...AUDIOBOOKS!

I don't have PHYSICAL evidence that I READ these books, because I LISTENED to books.

So, without further ado, here is a list of book that I remember listening to in 2010:

1. Will Grayson Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan.
- This book is about two boys named Will Grayson, and how, despite the similarity of name, they are very different people...and both their lives are changed when they meet up one night in Chicago. It's a great read, and features one of the most cruel things I've ever read a "friend" doing to another friend.

2. Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan
-This is a cute story...mostly about how nice the world would be if we all just accepted one another.

3. Looking for Alaska by John Green
- Man, this book made me cry a little. Also, it had the cool effect of putting a rather large personality into a short person, to the extent that I would often forget he was short and then be very confused when I was reminded.

4. An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
-Sensing a theme in authors are you? This was a fun read as well.

Anyway, I think that's it. Audio pickings are a little thin on the ground sadly. Not to mention that I tend to go for free things like podfics and podcasts most of the time.

After watching the new Sherlock series, I'm thinking that I may be able to find some of Arthur Conan Doyle's book on audiobook. Audiobook libraries LOVE old books read by old people.

Now, that all being said, I'm still going to finish Come Thou, Tortoise before I pick up another book. Having 5 books on the go isn't really doing my sanity any favours. It's hard enough to keep characters straight as it is.

I stole this from [livejournal.com profile] ratherastory ! It's fun.

My favorite story this year (of my own):

Probably Sam Is... and isn't that just the kicker - to have something so small overshadow the huge epic that is Vile Violent Vacations.

My best story this year:

Again, probably Sam Is... While my demented!verse overshadows it in terms of intrigue, plot, and length, Sam Is... has the benefit of having every word carefully chosen to the point where I don't think I have a single line in there that doesn't have a district purpose.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:

Vile Violent Vacations - and by extension, the whole of the demented!verse. I know it is greatly appreciated by the niche fans of Harry Potter/Supernatural crossovers, but man, I put so much work into that thing, I kind of wish people who weren't into crossovers would read it too.

The rest are behind the cut )
